The Steelers should've kept George Pickens for this season

Considering all the moves they made this offseason they seem to be going for it, that would've really made them to be all in on this season. Even though he's a pain in the butt to deal with. With Pickens they would be a top 3-4 team in the AFC the other top teams just have younger QBs.

    Nope

    You are wrong

Pickens would have made the team worse he was a cancer

They are trying to put together a team with a winning attitude

I don’t expect you to understand this

But this is on your top ten dumb posts

    But I looked

I can't change Your mind, but outside of what we seen on the field, which was bad enough, he must have been worse off the field for them to let him go already, there had to be a lot going on behind scenes. Because we know they don't let go of talented trouble as fast as they did him.

The off the field issues were definitely the deciding factor on him being traded. Pickens as a player is very good. Our team would unequivocally be better with him on the team.... but the tantrums and unprofessionalism could have caused problems so idk. We will never know what the locker room truly felt about him, but he was definitely a risk to extend (or even just to let the contract ride). I think his talent was worth that risk... but I don't blame them for trading him though.

On the surface, I agree with you. This is one of those things that makes great sense on paper. However, from a lot of the hearsay and rumors, GP's continued presence on the Steelers roster may have actually been detrimental to the team. We all know that GP tended to half-ass any play that he wasn't directly involved in. He also was rumored to not be happy when he was not getting the passes he felt he deserved. So with Metcalf on the team, you can bet that GP would feel he should be getting more passing and deserve more money. I think that would lead to him causing a lot of drama within the locker room.

The loser would stop running/blocking/playing *during* live play, and then gloat about it! How can anyone justify keeping that kind of a loser?

It would've made them a more dangerous team and their opponents wouldn't be stacking the box to stop the run either.

It would have broken them apart as a team

Apparently you are challenged grasping what teamwork means and what it takes

I recommend you get out of the basement and join a T ball team or something similar

Here I’ll help educate you again

Character does matter. Once upon a time we had several young receivers like Wallace, AB, & Sanders learning how to be professionals from H Ward. Now we have other young receivers, and we don't want them learning how to act like professionals from GP.

Not to mention the 3rd round pick we got for him. This pick will be packaged with a few other picks to move up to draft our next HOF QB.

It would've been nice to have Rodgers, DK, and Pickens together for at least this season, but they decided to move on from Pickens, so I'm not going argue their decision. Hopefully Roman Wilson, and Calvin Austin lll can step up and fill the void.

I have high hopes for Wilson and it appears the team does as well

Austin appears to have improved enough to be an adequate #3

Scouting department failed on George Pickens. I knew nothing about him but it was obviously a bad decision. Immediately there were red flags on this careless knucklehead. It was always about himself only. Probably the worst team player in the history of the Steelers organization. Incredible talent but selfish beyond all belief. Good riddance. I’m glad he’s gone.

Imagine the position the Steelers would be in right now if Pickens and DJ had the mental makeup of Ward or even AB in his prime

It's kind of pointless to argue about what could've been, but since this is a Steelers talk forum, I guess it's worth a discussion. Pickens is very talented, but a headcase, so they got rid of him. We need to focus on who they have now, and who they may make a move for as a WR2 in the future. If they decide to stay pat at WR, Roman Wilson may surprise us. Should be an interesting year for Steelers fans, especially with Rodgers at QB.

It would be great to have been able to keep Pickens the player. He and Metcalf would have been a real problem for defences.

But they clearly didn’t want him around. Remember all the tantrums during games, but i think being late for the Xmas Day game was the final straw

There were very few farewell messages from fellow players when he left, that’s also telling.

They still have time to do something at WR. Khan has shown a willingness to be bold and I don’t think they are done making moves

There is always the possibility of picking up a veteran WR who is a camp cut

Especially if there someone with a few miles left in the tread but a contract that doesn’t justify keeping them

I know but it sucks we never got a chance to see what the offense would look with him and Rodgers, Metcalf.

I don't think, if Rodgers has anything left they will be stacking the box against the run anyway. He is not Trubisky, Pickett, Fields, and or a old Wilson. Even in any of their best times, they weren't as good a Rodgers was, or hopefully is.

The opposing team will not stack the box vs Rodgers since even if it would a light box at the one yard line,Rodgers would call a pass to improve his TD total....

Fields is better that current Rodgers....The jets are going to have more wins this year that they had with Rodgers in 2024

I don't think they failed at all. He was a 1st round talent that they knew had problems, so they waited to the 2nd round for him, and for taking a chance on the talented , but troubled Wr.......We got over 2800 yards ,12 tds, some wins, a 3rd, and a 5th round pick out of him. Not bad all in all.

I wouldn't bet that if I was you, and also....how many wins do You think Fields would have his 1st year coming off a Achilles tear??? Not much of nothing since he relies more on his legs than his arm.

Not many and his injury and his age is why I don't think Rodgers has much left in the tank...

I will bet whatever Money you feel like that Rodgers, unless He get a season long injury, has a better year in Pittsburgh than last year, and I can give you 5 reasons why, although I won't, because I want you to take the bet.
