Dude. Lebeaus whole philosophy was make them March down the field, and see if they can actually do it, and it was also Cowhers philosophy, they have both stated this many many times, but now because it's Tomlins philosophy, it's stupid??
Also You can't do things You don't have the horses for. We blitzed more than any team in 2020, or 2021, I can't remember which.

Makes no difference. You’re saying it doesn’t happen when in fact it does

Flores got a promotion and you expected him to stay with the Steelers? Even people in the media knew Flores wasn't going to stick around for the long term.

Yes it makes a difference. We were running the ball down their throat, and they couldn't stop it, is way different than a team saying they know what we are doing every play, and yet they can't stop it, and then bragging they know what we are doing every play. Think about that, and if You don't see the difference...well:shrug:

I said the Steelers shouldn't have let him get out the door. Whatever it took, money, title....

I hope we see more aggressive defensive play calling. Attack, let the cards fall where they may.

He would stay if the steelers would gave him a promotion as DC....We all knew that Flores was a much better DC that Austin at that time

Yep, they were too stale on defense last year ending up with only 40 sacks.

And everybody knew Austin was still under contract and the Steelers weren't going to fire him just to promote Flores. It would've been a good move football wise, but they don't operate that way.

That is the only statement that really makes sense about his situation. He was given a lifeline by MT (things in Miami and his lawsuit), but his talent was far above he was doing here. They could have and probably should have let Austin go and give the job to Flores, anything less and the first good opportunity he was going to go.

This is dumb...No way the eagles would win the super bowl in 2024 if they would keep the same OC and DC that they had at the end of the 2023 season when they had a collapse

So what? Not every team is going to run their team the same way. The Steelers have been family owned for almost 100 years and do things differently.

The steelers way don't work in 2025...Khan seems to understand that but Rooney and Tomlin are still stuck in the 2000s or before

Lebeau’s defenses were stifling. Sure they protected against giving up the big play but they definitely were innovative and took alot of calculated chances. There was a reason they were called Blitzburgh and Lebeau is known as one of the Godfathers of the Fire Zone Blitz. My issue with Tomlin s when you see Watt being nuertalized during the second half of the season with the amount of double teams often from the RB then take advantage of that. If the RB isn’t back there to pick up an additional rusher then darn why not run delayed or disguised blitz right up the middle with Queen or Wilson? That will teach the offense a lesson. Some of these more innovative offensive coordinators are playing chess while were playing checkers. It can’t be all about your guy beating the guy in front of him.

I do recall against certain teams (Patriots) they would nickel and dime their way down the field against our defense. Lebeau’s defenses however were alot more dominant than these defenses we have had under Tomlin recently. First Lebeaus’e Defenses were always dominant against the run. Yes we had a run plugging NT and played with 3 down lineman more but even the DE’s Aaron Smith and The Beard were dominant against the run. The ILB’s played down hill alot more and created havoc. The Lebeau Defenses were alot more aggressive and picked and choose when to Blitz and it was very effective. I feel much better about the Secondary playing a little more cautious and tackling the catch when you are stopping the run consistently with the front seven and reaching havoc on the QB with that front Seven. Unfortunately under Tomlin I feel like the ILB’s are utilized more like hybrid Safeties today and we aren’t nearly as aggressive with them. I do understand the league has changed and it is more of a passing league but man just turn those guys loose more often. Have faith in your coverage guys to do their job and thus allow that extra blitzer to get there.

Hopefully with the veteran CB’s this year and three solid CB’s we will trust the back end more to allow ILB’s to blitz more both in the run and the pass.

The funny thing is they do this , they do what a lot of You complain about them not doing, and when it doesn't work, and a DB gets caught out, or the opposite pass rush fails, and so leaves someone wide open, then you guy complain about something else....., and this whole Tomlin calls the D is bull$hit. Yes the work on the game plan together, but he's not calling the D, and also if it was all Tomlin on the Defense, than why has our schemes , play calls , and things we do change from DC to DC??? Problem is most of the people on here can't really tell the difference, they can only see the outcome.

The Sisters of something or other have a retreat house in a very expensive beach town in my area. So easy to tell they are Nuns when walking the beach. I always ask them if I could give a little whack on their knuckles with a ruler.

    They didn’t guarantee his contract

    Sone/most of it

    But not a guaranteed contract

Less than the guy before him more than the guy after him

    Typical slotting

I suspect someone will repeat this again to you
