I got a news alert today reminding me of a black day for being a Pens fan, 24 years ago they traded Jags to the Capitals and began the downward spiral that was post Mario/Jagr Penguins hockey.

Well, there go half of the threads. Now that TJ's signed...... No more trade rumors, trade suggestions, or concerns about reporting to training camp......lol

They can’t win, but they can play the spoiler role.

They probably wouldn't get equal value in trading Watt better off keeping him, the Chiefs moved up from #27 to #10 in the first round to get Mahomes. With 12 picks next year they have enough to get into the top 10.

It will probably also cost the 2026 number 1

I explained this before you must have missed it for some reason

I'm glad they finally extended TJ, I just hope he doesn't end up being injury prone missing a lot of games like his brother JJ did at the end of his career. That would be a huge waste of money. One thing we know, they can't win without TJ, so fingers crossed.

I love how everyone is dismissing Will Howard as being some low tier QB. The guy definitely has game and ability to win big games. Get the right pieces in place and there will be no need to trade up and draft a QB.

Not to hijack this thread, but it was a sad day for Pittsburgh. I think Jagr tongue and cheek admires what he and Mario had together. Probably some jealousy playing in the shadow of Mario.

Mario shined. He was an all star. Humble guy that dominated the ice even with cancer and back problems. The team was probably going to be sold then he was drafted. Then the guy buys the team. I remember the 5 score games. He was a monster. Then he builds a rec room for kids at hospitals.

So yeah it's pretty hard not to love Mario Lemieux.

Got to throw a shout out to Mike Lange while we're getting nostalgic. He highlighted the game like Myron Cope with football.

I don't know either way, but I'm like You ,I don't understand dismissing him yet. Nobody knows yet what He will be in the NFL. He could be awesome, or He could suck, but I'd like to wait, and see 1st

TJ will be even better this year because we have better talent around him. These younger guys are hungry. You can't block all of them!

not to mention what we have at the ILB spot. wilson should be better in understanding the defense this year. holcomb can also do some damage rushing and against the run. queen doing more than just coverage. this alone could help the rush and take pressure off them doubling up TJ every play. blitz from the inside. better back end coverage. fresh legs opposite TJ. fresh legs on the d-line. this defense could and should be hard for QB's to get a read on.

He fell to the sixth round for a reason; they're drafting a QB in the first round next year book it.

See this is a good comment. They absolutely have to draft a QB next year and trade up to get whoever they deem is the best one.

Even if Howard shows something and they think he has a future, that shouldn't stop them from drafting a QB in the first-round next year.

He fell to the sixth round cause nobody was grabbing QB’s during first four rounds last draft. I remember another QB that fell to the sixth round and some consider him to be the GOAT and a sure fire first ballot HOFer.

I doubt if he shows anything this year, unless Rodgers and Rudolph both get injured.

Howard won’t be given enough of an opportunity this season to prove much unless the offense completely tanks and we are sitting at 2-7. But go ahead and fawn yourself over all of the college sure bet QB’s next year and hope we trade up to grab the one you love most.

You do realize Howard likely won't play this season unless there are injuries.

They have 12 picks next year of course they're going to make a splash and trade up to get a QB the draft is in Pittsburgh.

So if all QB’s aren’t that impressive we are still drafting one in the first round no matter what cause the draft is in PGH and we can all run to Primantis afterwards and name a sandwich after him. Got it.

If the Steelers want to compete in the playoffs, they'll need a QB that can compete with the likes of these AFC Championship QBs in the last few years:
    • Allen (2X)
    • Mahomes (5X)
    • Jackson
    • Burrow (2X)

I take it you don't follow college football the draft will be loaded at QB, and there will be guys better than Will Howard ;).

I'm not worried about that just keep building your team up then the rookie QB won't have to carry the load.
