Yes he does. But so does the other 10 as well. The issue is the archaic scheme brought to you by Bags Tomlin. Without some innovation its going to be same as it ever was.

Hell he might not see a playoff victory.

Too much money but had no choice. The longer they wait the more expensive it gets. In fact, Detroit, Dallas, and Bungles are going to find that out. Three years and not 4 or 5 years is key. The guaranteed monies sets a bad precedent and he gave them no discount but that’s just the way it is with the world and the Watts. I’ll certainly be one that prorates his performance per game but it had to be done. Bottom line, We’re a much better team with him than without, so it Had to be done. “ This ain’t your papas Steelers anymore”

    Go Steelers!

I like TJ not sure how you couldn’t as a Steeler fan BUT

The Steelers continue to put all this money into the defensive side of the ball and it is getting us nowhere but a WC blowout. I think that’s why people have an issue with continuing down this path. I think we should have traded him and gotten more parts for our offense (including hopefully our next QB)

The Steelers haven’t been all that creative on defense since Dick LeBeau was forced out.

That will change this season according to the media they were working on being more aggressive and blitzing at minicamp.

That's a myth or at minimal a fan misconception. If you balance the scales for the last decade while it may tip slightly to the defensive side right now the reality is they haven't invested more in one than the other. The skill positions will always get paid but Ben AB, DJ, Ebron, Vance, Friermuth, Daniels. They invested on the offensive side of the ball. The defense had 3 core guys in the last four years that got paid and two of them were worth the money the third is the longest tenured vet. Minkah's money is washed out by Ramsey, Cam got less than market and that leaves TJ as the big money guy. What you are talking about is the all encompassing if building a team. Players, money, free agency, draft picks, and trades. The last part you are talking about magic beans getting picks and players for Watt. Unfortunately the NFL doesnt work like Madden football. For every Chase Claypool trade there are 5 that end up like Justin Fields or worse Justin Gilbert or that ballhawk CB they traded for from Philly years ago.

I'll admit I was not as excited as others on here. The enthusiasm got me hopeful. IMO what steelerrule6 said about Jack Sawyer is what everyone on this board should be hoping hard for. I have no knowledge of the guy but if he could somehow be adequate to spell TJ at times it'd be a huge plus for the Steelers.

At this point, I feel as nothing ever changes under Mike Tomlin’s leadership. Last week I went camping with a bunch of Bungles fans and was proudly wearing my Steelers hat that has probably 30 Steelers logos on it. This one Bengals fan kept telling me over and over how much he hates the Steelers but loves Tomlinson as a head coach. I laughed and laughed and laughed while he said that about 5 times. I finally told him it is Tomlin and you guys can have him.

Which players offensively have the Steelers chose not to pay? Or do you mean they should be going out and frivolously spending on offensive players via free agency?

Ben retired, Kenny sucked and the offense is fairly young. This is more of Colin Cowherd PTSD than it is your comment, but it just feels like a tired argument. Offensive spending will come soon if players like Jones, Fuatanu, Frazier, etc. develop. Not to mention the bag DK just got.

Spending more in free agency. I mean they should have more than 1 decent receiver to start. And they should be focusing on giving a bag to an actual long term QB or using draft capital from trading a Watt to move up and get 1. They have the highest paid D in the league and are not getting the return on investment.

My girlfriend and I were offered box seats to the Pirates. I told her it's rather see the local team the Curve lose and pay for it.

If you put no effort in to having a good team, don't expect me to get more excited than that.

I haven't cared about the Pirates since they let Barry Bonds go ages ago.

In my mind, investing in Watt shows this organization still has a backbone.

I just don't see an actual long term option at QB out there to go buy. They just missed recently in the draft with Kenny Pickett. Steelers have enough picks next year to get almost any of the QBs. I don't think it's necessary, or helpful in the short-term, to trade away your best player. While not "the standard" or obviously it is now, but the highest paid D is the only reason the Steelers stay above .500 and at least make the playoffs. Pretty decent given the lack of offense.

Side-note, I'm somewhat optimistic they could be good this year. Granted it's a one-year rental with Aaron Rodgers, but unless you are trading for an elite QB (good luck with that) then you are going to have to do exactly what the Steelers have done which is deal with over the hill vets or crash and burn with a Mason or a rookie. I have zero desire for that with Mason, but would be happy to do it with a QB next year that really has promise. Hate to dismiss Will Howard, but...6th round for a reason probably.

How about the Pens and the rumor that Mario group wants to buy it back from Fenway Sports due to the last three seasons and no nothing talking heads saying Crosby should be traded or wants to be traded. Yes Im glaring at you Mark Madden and your stupid trade Jake bs.

I love both the Pens and Mario Lemieux. I am very grateful as I grew up watching the Lemieux, Jagr teams. Fun time to be a hockey fan. Every now and then I catch a game with friends.
