We know he hired them, the question is why? Was it incompetence or just wanting some dummy hired who wouldn't question some of Mike’s decisions

A REAL coach could/would motivate a player to play
    anytime any where

    no matter what

    even in Denver!!!!!!!!

First Clark talked a lot as a player

Two being negative attracts a certain portion of the population and creates a niche so he makes money off of it he doesn’t have to be accurate or honest

Mark Madden for example makes a living being negative rude inaccurate and stupid and he has a following from the same demographic

If I have to motivate you I will fire you

    - Chuck Noll

I had an employee walk into my office wanting a raise and he told me he would work harder if I gave him a raise

I took that as his resignation and responded accordingly

I still say Canada was a Rooney hire....He knew him more than anyone on this team, but that doesn't fit the narrative. Just like Haley was a Rooney hire.

How many Tomlin hires have gone on to to great, or even decent things? How many have gone to be HC’s?

How many good to great coordinators have gone on to become lousy HC's?

Arians, went on to be a two time Coach of the year, and a SB Champion. How many from Cowhers real tree became HCs, and won anything???

This has always been my opinion on the matter.
Not how many branches the tree has ,but how much fruit has those branches actually produced.
I mean Belichick has to have one of the biggest coaching trees, but how many actually bore fruit??? I can't think of a single one, but I maybe incorrect.

Arians was on the Cowher staff too as WR coach and he only got a promotion when Whiz was gone in Arizona. And you can be great assistant but poor head coach. This is not the same thing being a assistant vs head coach. The great Dick LeBeau is a good example of that

The biggest problem under Tomlin, sometimes it can happen to hire poor coach,it also happens to Cowher but the thing you can't do is to stick with them way too long.I don't know for sure if it was on Rooney or Tomlin but the fact that Canada was once again our OC at the start of 2023 was such a disgrace for this team. The only team who would keep Canada after 2 poor season on offense

Does Arians get the opportunity to be a HC without Tomlin promoting him to OC?

The real reason why Arians had the chance to be a head coach was because he was the interim head coach of the colts when their head coach had a cancer.Without that, unlikely Arians become a head coach

It is by far Tomlins biggest issue as a HC.

How can we even grade Austin? He isn’t the true DC in my mind it is Tomlin. The defense by far plays below its pedigree every year. Its way to vanilla both in coverages and in rushing the QB. We think you just out pedigree teams with top tier talent. Well teams figure out how to neutralize Watt late in the season and we didn’t have an answer for it. We basically sacrificed Watt without moving him around, overloading Watt’s side to address the extra blockers or even overloading the opposite side to take advantage of one less blocker on that side. No disguised blitzes or fire zone blitzes. Just four man rush with a cover 3 on the back end playing deep prevent and tackling the catch in front of you. That basically allows the QB all the time in the world to nickel and dime his way down the field on us. Our hope is at some point the offense makes a mistake and we capitalize on it but that doesn’t happen against good offenses. As a result with that style of defense our defense allows so many long sustained drives we are worn out in the fourth quarter and we are a shell of ourselves on the defensive side come the second half of the season with injuries and fatigue. KC and Minnesota o more with less. Why not mimic them?

No he is often positive but when he sees something that needs addressed, he doesn’t shy away from speaking up about it. Thats why he is well liked in the media because he is transparent.

The better question is name a Coordinator that has been good for us since our last SB? Also how about assistants? Oline in particular.

That's a different conversation that the post you quoted. But since you ask....

I think Fichtner was limited as an OC. I thought he was a pretty good QB coach based on how much Ben liked him. If he's the guy your QB prefers to go to, I think that makes him a good QB coach.

    Canada was awful.

I think Smith was good as the OC with the Titans. The offensive personnel is so different this season from last season, I feel like I have to give it time. Wait and see.

If going back to Haley, he was a good OC. I think he and Ben butted heads too much.

As to the OL coach, I'm hoping this season tells us that answer. We finally have all our draft picks in position to start 'where they are supposed to'. Same answer as before. Wait and see.
