Are the steelers in football purgatory? heck yes

Tomlin is just outdated here in the burgh… he may be successful coaching another team. Groundhog day the last 10 yrs.

 

Dude, Steelers are and always be my team. It is very frustrating at this point, all regimes eventually need a change.

It’s fine to root for him. I despise his coaching but still hope they win and he can turn things around. I just don’t know how you can’t admit how pathetic this playoff streak has been. It makes you look like you are living with your head in the sand.

 

Philly gets us no matter who is coaching.

 

Agreed, but I'm not going to make up stuff just so it happens, and if we missed making the playoffs a couple years in a row, I would be the 1st to be complaining, but I have always looked at football the same for freaking ever.
If You win enough games to make the 1st seed in the playoffs = outstanding regular season.
If You win enough games to make the playoffs = successful regular season.
If You do not make the SB= terrible post season.
I'm not like a lot of people on here that considers a playoff win, or two successful. IMO....the only successful post season is to make the SB. Period.

 

It's because we don't think alike.
This is how I've always viewed football.
You win enough games to make the playoffs = a successful regular season.
You don't make the SB = a failure post season. Period. I have never ever , ever considered winning a few playoff games as successful if we didn't make the SB. Never.

This is not like the Pats had a NFL caliber QB on that thursday night matchup.....

 

That's a key point. That lack of progress in the post season is damning. And I don't know that it's been proven you can win in the NFL with aged veterans at so many key positions but it's the Steelers attempt to stay relevant during a roster reconstruction.

As Cowher said, I think they are trying to change the personality of this football team. The Pickens trade speaks for itself. Tomlin hates getting questions about players in his PCs.

The Fitz trade seems more about capturing an opportunity than about dissatisfaction with a particular player. They are getting two + players while losing one
Muth has been steady but unspectacular in YAC in his career. J. Smith has shown he can be far more productive after the catch. The Steelers in general have lacked YAC. Part of that is scheme based as they throw a lot to the sidelines and during Pickett's time they threw a lot of 5 yd outs. Muth also struggled with drops last season (most in his career). Smith has good hands on far more targets.

 

Andy Reid got fired in Philly 8 seasons after taking the eagles to the SB. His postseason record after the 2005 SB loss at Philly was 3-4 over the next 8 years.

Tomlin is 3-9 postseason since his last SB loss in 2010. Much worse than what got Andy Reid fired for yet he's still here getting extended like a mofo.

 

The difference is Trubisky wasn't good, and he would turn the ball over.

Am I the only one who notices that when one of the parrots repeats something the others seem to pat him on the back by repeating the only thing they know

Appears to be some form of mutual admiration society

 

the other was a practice squad QB so both was trash....Trusbisky still play the next game,who was a must win game even if they had a another option on the bench(even it was a unknow but a unknow was still the best option)

I love how some of You act like the regular season only matters when You want it to matter.
Like the Lamar Jackson lovers who think he is awesome.....yet if You took away his regular season, and just judged him by the playoffs like some like to do for the Steelers.....he freaking sucks, and he's not the only one,but somehow this doesn't translate to the Steelers.
For umpteenth million time. For me if You win enough games to make the playoffs, I consider it a successful regular season .
If You don't make the SB, I consider it a failure post season. I always have. JMO, but if some of You get off on winning a few playoff games here, and there without making a SB, I don't hold it against You.

 

So in your opinion a wildcard beat down is the same as say making the AFC Championship and losing in OT? Like you said not being a jerk just asking. We are allowed to think differently.

 

I will take the practice squad guy who doesn't turn the ball over a scrub like Trubisky any day .
