i am not sure, Minkah has lost a step or 2 He is smart, but physically has been protecting himself. Does not want to or like to hit, lay the wood. He played the TP role in 2023 and got ALL BANGED UP.

I like this move, he was costing us way too much money. We get the best years from him, i loved him, but he declined quickly, IMO.

Now - what we do with his VOID - I have NO IDEA!

Splash plays are probably easier in the Atlantic Ocean than the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers.

And Yet after all is said.....we forced the most turnovers last year, and top 5 the year before.
It's funny by some of the people....what we do well in ,is because of the players, and what we do terrible in , is because of the coaches, and some people actually say this with a straight face, and see no hypocrisy in it. LoL

This might be a good move for the field, but bad move for the locker room.

One INT in two years for an elite safety....

    From a Browns fan:

Whether Cleveland Browns fans understand the move or not, the departure of RB Nick Chubb from the team that drafted him will be forever linked to the injury caused by Pittsburgh Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick wasn’t even fined for what most considered a low blow, an unnecessary hit back in Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season.

While Browns fans won’t have a chance to cheer on one of the team’s best players ever, they were in line to boo Fitzpatrick twice a season. Now, it is just once.

Monday, the Steelers made a trade with the Miami Dolphins that sent Fitzpatrick back to the team that drafted him. All in all, the trade ended up looking like this:

    Steelers received

    CB Jalen Ramsey
    TE Jonnu Smith
    7th round pick in 2027
    Dolphins received

    S Minkah Fitzpatrick
    5th round pick in 2025
In the end, most believe that Miami received the better end of the trade with an upgrade at cornerback not offsetting the loss at safety. A big reason for that feeling is former Browns free agent flop Juan Thornhill, who is likely set to take over for Fitzpatrick this season.

A player that Cleveland was excited to add from the champion Kansas City Chiefs ended up disappointing due to injuries and what was considered to be a lack of effort at times. Pro Football Focus graded Thornhill as the 70th-best safety in the NFL last year after placing 63rd in his first season in Cleveland. Thornhill played in just 22 games in his two seasons with the Browns before being released as a post-June 1st cut.

Adding Smith could help Pittsburgh’s offense as he reunites with OC Arthur Smith for the third time in his career. Smith had his best season last year, his eighth in the NFL, with 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns.

Contract details are still up in the air, but Smith is reportedly getting a new deal with the Steelers, and Ramsey is expected to get a pay bump as well.

Pittsburgh seems all in on this season, but downgraded their defense (along with moving down two rounds in a draft that is two years away) to add to their offense and spend more money.

When you hear 6 different things from 6 different writers then yes some of it is speculation

When 6 say the same thing it’s most likely accurate

In this case it may just have been a matter of them finding a better option for what they planned to do with Minkah

Not to mention this article is an opinion piece based on what the writer witnessed in camp

Thanks for clearing that up. When will we see Brandon Aiyuk start?
What did we get from TJ trade a few months ago?
When will they un- invisible the ketchup bottles so we can see them?
Did justin fields start last year? Because it sure did look like Wilson.
Is Pickett still our future QB?
Did Bell get that massive 2017 contract and they just didn't tell us, and he's a secret agent for us?
Who played for us 2017 to 2021? Every media outlet was saying Been was retiring.
What exactly does hot seat mean for Tomlin? Or is Tomlin another secret agent for the Steelers and we are ran by a different HC?

.... let's be real, if not for Pickens media. You would be sitting right beside me saying the media is full of crap.

Or they planned on keeping Minkah until Miami agreed to kick in more money to Ramsey to facilitate the trade.

We’ve been using Minka to compensate for the weakness at ILB. Even with the Queen signing, it was still weak. Hopefully with one year under their belts Queen and Wilson, along with Holcomb back in the mix, will play lights out

That might have been true for one season but last season Fitz was in a different zip code playing so far back during half the games.

Then, there were the communication issues that plagued the Steelers defense so much late last season. With coverage gaffes in the secondary a regular occurrence during a five-game losing streak (including playoffs) that ended the season, frustration was palpable among Steelers defensive players.

During a Christmas Day loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Fitzpatrick was out of position for the first score: a 7-yard touchdown reception by Xavier Worthy. After the game, cryptic comments came from multiple players.

"Ten guys do the job and one guy doesn't, we're screwed," captain Cameron Heyward said.

Added outspoken safety DeShon Elliott: "Guys can't be (bleeping) wide open. ... Guys just weren't doing their job."

No one named Fitzpatrick. Perhaps he wasn't the sole target -- or a target at all -- of their angst.
