I personally don't care what university these players come from. Will they fit the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I do feel the run first mentality is a joke in todays NFL. Hopefully Arthur Smith brings in a much more balanced attack although he is a power running play action type of coordinator.

They are again relying on the Defense at this point. But the playoff defense has come up small since Tomlin has taken over (when they get there)

I'm hoping Wilson has a couple of solid years in his twilight. Fields is not the answer. Which makes me laugh that Tomlin thinks so highly of him although he is a turnover machine who can't read defenses and folds in the 4th quarter. Tomlin hates the Offense turning the ball over.

As far as Pickett is concerned Canada mishandled the situation and Tomlin is to blame for hiring that scrub. It was Art II who didn't want to miss a chance at another Pitt QB like they did with Marino. And Tomlin was in lock step as well. Water under the Fort Pitt bridge now its a closed book.

In this scenario it would have been really hard to keep Mason from moving on elsewhere. I would have kept either Pickett or Mason over Fields though.

Probably, but it's what I would have tried doing. I just feel right now if Wilson gets hurt....we are in major trouble.

If Wilson gets hurt…. our receivers had better practice their downfield blocking.

Fixed it, but we are giving Fields an opportunity to improve, maybe he will improve or he won't, I would take that risk that he can be coached up, if you think about it Fields with his athleticism and upside is a good project for competent and inspired coaching

What in the last 5 years gives you any hope that we have competent and inspired coaching?

I'm just giddy this thread still has more traction than that Fields Poll one.
Definitely the correct options in this poll.

We do have some new faces coaching on offense besides new OC, like I believe his name is Tom Arth, new guy Azzini w receivers, Sullivan will be back. It's a new day and a new season w new coaching, we'll see how things go

Do we really need inspired coaching?

An old coach once said that the players just need to execute better.....I forget the coach's name.....Matt something I think. I vaguely remember that inspired coaching was not in his playbook.....lol

I am hopeful the changes make the difference. It's been long time since the offense has been watchable.

5 years comes up because that's when they got rid of Haley, which began the decline of this offense.

    well.....correlation or causation?

Haley got Ben the PEEK of his career.

it was starting to nosedive when Haley was canned.

you do know Haley was canned b/c this O was waaaay under performing with the juggernaut of talent on it?

great from 20 to 20......then roll in Boswell for the 45 yarder.....

I should have added the option "starter for the Browns".... which in a lot of ways is even worse than being the backup on a different team.

Of course this option would assume that Kenny beats out this years variety of Browns has-beens and busts.

That depends on which talking heads you favor. They are literally all over the map. Some have Kenny performing badly, some have Sanders jumping Gabriel, some have Sanders as number 4 with limited reps. Some have KP as the best performer with the 1's, some have Sanders being cut. The non-professionals on the secondary sites are speculating that they moved Sanders to the 4th position to boost his confidence since the 4th string guys are usually not ready for the NFL type.

Oddly though none of them seem to be talking about Flacco.

I don't think it is odd that no one is talking about flacco. he is what, 38 now? the league just is not kind, favorable to most of those guys. it is ABOUT OVER at that age, we all know that.

Kenny was set up for failure in Pittsburgh - we can agree to that. Tomlin and Co. CANNOT develop a young QB.

    Rooney does not get that.

or MAYBE he does which is why we bring in guys ready to RETIRE!!!

The only reason I find it odd is because of how much they are analyzing the other three and then they throw out there stuff like oh yeah Flacco looked fine too.

As of right now Flacco is the best Qb on the field, they know that, but it's not as newsworthy.

Hmm. So the Rams can't develop a Qb, funny I heard he was the great Offensive mind, but surely if He was He wouldn't have brought in a old Qb Stafford, and Tampa Bay they surely couldn't develop a Young Qb, because why bring in Brady, and the Broncos appears they can't either, it's why the brought in Manning, and the Saints had to bring in Drew Brees, and after He retired there, their HC fled because He couldn't groom a young Qb........
Or maybe.....just maybe all these teams did it because the Qbs they had drafted weren't very good, but no, its just us. LoL

wtf,I don't know where to start

I mean, for the rams,Goff make a monster jump between 2016 and 2017 with Sean McVay and make the super bowl in 2018.Without McVay,Goff would been likely out of the NFL after 2018 because he was that bad under Fisher.Every young QB dream to have a head coach like Sean McVay

Mayfield become a very good QB since he is with Tampa Bay...When the saints sign Drew Brees,he was still a young QB,so you are wrong and Sean Payton did a great job with Nix last year in his rookie season in Denver

I agree for the Broncos when they sign Manning since John Fox was not a QB guru!
