Not necessarily, his agent may ask for top 5 CB money. I wouldn't pay a corner that if he never get interceptions.

He can grab a jersey with the best of them but he can’t grab a football

    Go figure

one year, $4mil, possibility of another $2mil with incentives.. nice deal for them. he'll be a depth piece there, hard to believe we couldn't have used him more here.

Good deal for the Ravens, no risk but with a lot of upside if he can stay on the field.

I'm not so sure he's just depth. If he stays healthy he still plays at a very high level, and you're looking at a Ravens' secondary of him, Wiggins, Humphrey, and Hamilton.

Bold move by the Ravens to stack that kind of help around Lamar in order to get over the hump and see the AFC Championship game from their living rooms again.

If these tackles don’t pan out Khans status around here takes a big hit. I’m not so sure he is all that as a GM. Really good at cap numbers maybe.

As sure as you were that Khan spent ~$13M for half a year of Preston Smith?

Correct. Khan saved $13 million in Cap money by releasing Preston Smith. I don't know why I am repeating Myself. :)

I don't think you're getting it. If the Steelers released him after the 2024 season, they saved any non-guaranteed 2025 money. So if his base (i.e., non- guaranteed) salary was $13M in 2025, that does not mean that is what he accounted for against their cap in 2024, and he didn't.

Smith was some of the cheap-skate Omar shopping.
I know Preston well and knew he had very little left in the gas tank. GB drained that.
Smith did very well for them.
Plus our DC is one of the autistic types..... we must do the same thing every game, every down... very little imagination.
I think the players we have on defense can be very good but when you have game plans drawn in crayon, it a little tough to be all you can be.

It is one thing for Omar to be so tight he squeaks when he walks, as the inverse will put you in cap hell.
But when a special player can be added, you really need to not squeeze the silver out of the coins.
It's becoming common knowledge that he is low-balling...
I make an obvious repeat in that, no, you don't want to blow the bank for any or every name player that hits the market... a lot are looking for that last check.
So you have to carefully temper spending.

i believe we opted for the future at the position. smith wasn't in that equation. watt may or may not be either. maybe a wait and see what sawyer, herbig bring. moon as well. if they can get the arrow pointing up for those 3 they may continue to try to low ball TJ and hope he bites. doubtful though. he is signed to this year. it will also be a couple of years until highsmith is worth moving out. by then they may have 2-3 new guys taking over. may not be TJ good but that will be hard to replicate. close may be good enough going forward.

You seem awfully harsh on Khan, not sure why. He's made some moves that are worthy of criticism, but I don't see him as the 'weak' GM you've described - not yet, at least. I also don't see the issue with starting out low in trade negotiations; it's generally not advised to lead with your best offer. Besides, it's not like he hasn't made bigger moves - he gave up a 2nd to acquire Metcalf and then invested $130M in extending him, which had some complaining about giving up too much.

Damn. Didnt see that coming. Figured someone would pay Jaire a good deal. That said, he will be able to go to a team that is perennial Super Bowl Contenders in Baltimore.

If Lamar Jackson had any more excuses, he is officially out of them now. Either he can or cannot.

If Steelers land Ramsey, it’s a good counter move.

Feels like they have to at this point.

However, Pittsburgh will have to pivot Ramsey elsewhere I believe. I still believe he is a Top 10 Corner but he sure as hell isn't the HOF Talent he was from 2016-2021. Those were easily some of the best years of his career.

As me, you and STD have collectively agreed upon in another thread, safety would be his next best move. Rod and Charles Woodson did just fine at that role. Ramsey does have experience himself playing it some at LA when Joe Staley was the DC at the time. Who's to say he cannot still do it?!

Why do they have to do it? This is far from the first time the Ravens have made the big signing while the Steelers sat on their hands. What the Steelers have to do is find another receiver.

Ramsey at slot corner would solve a lot of issues on the defence

I would much prefer that than Alexander

I think you could argue that they need a receiver and another player in the secondary.

They have the time and resources to do both. If they are viewing this year with Rodgers as an all-in attempt to make a playoff run while you still have Cam, TJ and others still playing at a high level then they should do whatever it takes (within reason) to improve the team IMO

I agree. To me its that he hasn't learned to keep his hands to himself. Grabby Joey. Yes the picks are important but constant penalties for pass interference can change the game in a hurry.

Plus I feel he is not a #1 corner. A #2 at best.

His 3rd season coming up. Can he clean up the grabby? He struggled last season.
