I live around tons of Saints fans. There are still plenty of them that would rather Haener start over Rattler. Now with Shough in the mix, it's mostly a 3-way tie for the fans. When I answered the question I was only saying that I think Rudolph would be better than any of those 3 QBs. If we traded MR to the Saints I think he becomes the starter there. Not saying anybody 'sucks'. If you ever see me saying a player 'sucks' you have permission to call me out on it. I just don't do that, or try not to, ever.

No....there will be No true competition for the Qb position as soon as Rodgers signed, but let's not act like the other teams don't do the same. 97% of the time, on any team, the highest paid player, or most invested in like draft picks, gets the start automatically, unless injured, or they aren't exactly ready yet, but then its just a matter of time. I don't know why people think that is different here compared to everywhere else. All the teams do this.

You only say this because You actually believe it. I know , I remember You trying to argue that Trubisky was starting because He actually won the competition, and you, and everyone knows he started because they had brought him in, and paid Him the most that year, and yet some still didn't want to believe it, and He still has the worst record of any of the Qbs that have played since Ben left.
I myself believe there should always be competition for any spot, but I'm not paying the bills, and I know it's a business, and that's not how it works most of the time on any of the teams.....even though some like to believe it does.

Typically, I agree with this. It's just different with QB. With what Russ and ARod have accomplished in their careers it was their job to lose. No competition unless they just show no arm left in TC. There was no competition between Ben and Rudolph each year, that's my meaning. If Flacco is even close to what he was last season he's QB1 at this point in preseason. I 100% feel like I understand and agree with your point, but QB is just different. Outside of QB there is no entitlement. Earn your spot.

    If you say so

Doesn’t seem like something I would have said and at the time I don’t think I had thought about it

Stand by it if you did. Trubisky had a better track record going into that season and outplayed Rudolph and Pickett in the preseason. Rudolph had the worst numbers of the three quarterbacks in the preseason that year despite getting to play against scrubs. Of course, Trubisky turned out to be a disaster and I don't know why it matters at this point, but the numbers didn't back up STD's argument at the time, and they have not changed.

There is not going to be any competition, no matter what Rodgers does he will be the QB unless he gets hurt.

Yeah funny that Rudolph had more tds, and less ints than Trubisky those two preseasons, but believe what You want . LoL.
Now is where you say as you said then...., but ,but he was playing against starters, and I will say what I said, and Rudolph was playing with backups. We already went through all this then.
And who was the worst Qb since Ben left. Thank You , that's all I needed to say.

Yes, we went through this then. You were wrong then, which is why you are trying to move the goalposts now. This is about one season, 2022, when some folks here whined that Trubisky only started because of his contract even though he clearly won the preseason competition. He had the better track record coming into that season and better statistics in the preseason games. That you are trying to drag in statistics from another preseason is utter nonsense. Trubisky completed a higher percentage of his passes and averaged more yards per attempt than Rudolph. Both threw two touchdowns with no interceptions, but Rudolph put couple right into defenders' chests that were dropped. I remember this because we've been over it before.

What happened in years after that is irrelevant to the discussion. Based on the information available at the start of the 2022 season, the Steelers gave the job to the veteran who earned it.

We fans do that. Always saying some guy sucks. Way I look at it is if you made it to the professional level of any sport you are great at that sport.

Agreed, although when we say a player sucks it's in comparison with other NFL players, not one of us old board members. LoL

He shouldnt start but he may finish. Not that i want that because it'll mean the AR experiment ended in disaster and i want to see the steelers on a deep playoff run. I dont care if mr former Packer is leading the charge. This isn't 1978 anymore.

Mason is a good backup and he may win a few games like he did two years ago. But in the playoffs? With Tomlin at the helm? If we couldnt do it with Ben in those last ten years were not going anywhere with MR, not with MT.
