i think the difference between this 42 year old version of AR and the Mason version that last played for us (forget last years Tennessee debacle) is not that great.

AR can get that rejuvenation, or fountain of youth, if only for a little while, has happened before (Montana with KC)

I'm cautiously optimisitic. Rodgers still has it and was looking better as the year went on last season, on a bad jets team to boot. He was clearly the best FA option for this year.

I don't understand the fans/media who think Rudolph was the best option. Rudolph has had opportunities and has proven he's not a long term starter. He's a quality backup and I'm glad he's on the team, but people want him as the season long starter?

This is where I am at as well. It is 'Meh'. You are signing Rogers for a one year rental, so it kind of is Superbowl or bust, and we kind of know the outcome is likely bust, which makes it a waste.

The Steelers at some point have to stop playing for the 'Mike Tomlin No Losing Season Participation Trophy' and fix the quarterback position and offense in general.

who cares? until the head is cut off, we go nowhere. HOF, what a joke. his HOF days are long gone. he throws a fit because he doesn't have the receivers to throw too. he will really throw a fit here. he wants to run the show so there will be heads butting before the end of the magical season most think we will have. as we win we become the browns drafting a QB from here on. TJ's last gasp and then when it doesn't happen no more TJ. i'm really against this build for one year mentality. that is how the raiders (al davis) and redskins (richie rich snyder) and browns (every owner) did it and do it. i stay loyal but it's getting harder.

i always liked rodgers. just not at this point for this team especially for a one year stint. i don't think the dedication to this team is there. this ain't the same rodgers as early in his career. i see many players in their farewell season. rodgers, TJ, cam, slay, minkah, seumalo, woods.:cool:

I see it now on the Steelers WEb site.

I thought Schefter was creating another Leveon Bell story about Aaron signing on Monday.

    LOL.. "pending a physical." :)
The Steelers agreed to terms with quarterback Aaron Rodgers on a one-year contract, pending a physical.

I mean, even at his age AR is better than Mason. Is it vastly better? Probably not vastly, but it’s real. I can see both arguments. I think our team is better with Rodgers starting for us, but I think the best option for long term would be to start Howard at some point during the season to see what we have….

Either way, I’m not terribly disappointed or anything. He should be able to help out the young OL at the very least. KFP ran himself into sacks and Fields and Wilson both held onto it. Rodgers will at least get it out quickly and potentially help with reads/assignments.

I figure it's going to be a joke. I just hope he screws the Steelers over in the first couple games like he did to the Jets, then we'll have Rudolph and Howard and probably do okay.

It's freaking June already and Rodgers is an entirely different quarterback than the Steelers are set up for. They're just not going to get in sync. It'll be like looking at Flacco in Cleveland or a flashback to Rodgers with the eternally discombobulated Jets

I totally get people wanting Rodgers over Mason, but I don't get the people that make fun of Mason, but wanted to sign Fields to a big contract. That makes no sense to me. It's like turnovers, and losses are OK if You are Fields, but not if You are Mason.

I agree Ray. What has happened to this once proud franchise.

Until Bags Tomlin is gone and gummy worm Art II steps down you will see more of the same. I don't give two craps about the non losing seasons.

    Rodgers gives hope? :lolol:

Can't wait for the drama show? And when it falls apart the excuses will be a plenty.

Not sure where you are getting your STATS.

Justin Fields: 6 starts 4 Wins and 2 Losses 5 TDs with 1 INT.
Mason Rudolph: 5 starts 1 Win and 4 losses 9 TDs and 9 INTs.

The biggest difference between Justin and Mason is that I had to add an "S" for Justin's winS, and I had to add an "S" for Mason's intS :) Proves my point kind of nicely!!!

Down one score late in the game, who do you want under center? Like it or not, AR is the best option we have
