So.....it appears that for better or worse, we get AR.

I don't think he will be any worse than the current options we have. I don't have any realistic expectations of #7. But I do think we can win a playoff game (pretty sad when just winning a playoff game is the sum of your hopes and dreams.....lol). What I really hope is that Howard gets some mentoring from AR. AR is a smart QB. He has been successful. He has been in the big games. He has a lot of experience to share, should he be willing and able to do so. If Howard can tap into that, perhaps it will raise his game and make him into a starting QB for the future. //fingers crossed!

At least Rodgers will throw to the MOF more than the other Steelers QBs from the last few years

It was one of the best quarterback performances I've ever seen. I don't think our defense played badly in that game. Rodgers was just hitting incredibly tight windows all night long.

Like many here, I was not in favor of signing AR. Doesn't matter now, the decision is made and we shall have to see how it develops.
Like you, I hope he shares his knowledge with Howard and Howard listens and learns. His past with the Packers doesn't indicate much of a willingness to share, but he was a much younger player then, and not a 40 something QB at the end of the line, so maybe the mentoring will happen now.
My hope was Mason and Howard would split the season with Howard getting playing time down the stretch to see if he can be the #1 going forward or they would have to draft another QB. We likely won't find the answer to that question now, unless something unfortunate occurs.

Rodgers is a complete oddball and I sincerely hope the season isn’t going to be marred by drama now, but on the football side of things this is good news imo.

Rodgers is likely going to be the best QB the Steelers have had since Ben fell off post elbow surgery, and he is still one of the best in the league in terms of reading defences, accuracy, timing and running the offence.

We haven’t had a passing game over the middle of the field in years, that’s about to change. While we need to be realistic about where Rodgers is at I would be surprised if the offence isn’t significantly better and harder to play against this season.

It's not the best signing, but given the situation it is best for the time.
I despise how our front office went about addressing the QB situation for the past 5/6 years.
I'm sure there's some "But's" in there but the bottom line is the bottom line.

Howard is a wild card, but I am truly hoping that the Steelers at least try to see if he has potential.
And if not, work him to be a great back up for the next 4/5 years.

Mason is Mason. It's only going to be marginally better for him as he has more experience.

I am surprised it is a 1-year deal, but it gets us into the 2026 draft and armed with a lot of resources.
This Front Office has painted themselves into the proverbial corner. It's all-in on the 26 QB sweepstakes and everyone knows it.
    Unless Howard proves otherwise.

If I am Howard, I don't care if Rogers talks to me or not, I will watch everything he does and listen to the play calls.
Rogers may help us in more ways than passing.

As far as the 25 season.
As long as we keep Rogers uniform clean... we will be in great shape.
I'd still like to see a WR happen.

my problem with this is even when ben was aging and had been playing with the same team forever we couldn't make it work so a guy with a half commitment is going to make it work in one year? i just don't see it going as smoothly as many think. TJ is watching how this transpires and how a one time shot at a playoff win will want to make him re-sign. will he be willing to wait for a maybe guy in a draft next year or have to wait for that next year guy to get up to speed. i see many things going sideways over this.

The Steelers seem to be able to win 8 to 10 games (with the occasional outlier) regardless of who is the quarterback. If I had to pick over/under 8.5 wins, I would say over but not by much.
No one knows how good Reindeer will be, or how much Errant has left in the tank.
Errant sure is an oddball. The site of the Kecksburg Incident is close to training camp, I wonder if he knows that and will make a visit?

Rodgers winning big in Pittsburgh would piss so many people off and I'm here for it!:drinks:

If it falls flat, it's a one year thing and changes nothing for next year.

Rodgers winning a SB against GB would be epic. Snowballs chance in hell but what a story it would be.

    "The Wait"
Honestly, I am surprised more veteran players don't do same.
In Rogers case, I have no problem. He is 40+ and has seen about every kind of defense there is.
As long as he is in shape, which it looks like he is in very good shape, I just didn't have an issue with it.

    "His Game"
For better or for worse, we are rolling the dice on a potential Y.A. Tittle who got better later in his career.
    --That is 'maybe' --
The story has to unfold this season. I'd love to see history.. but there's no guarantee, for sure.
None the less, we have Mason in the pocket.
I am sure Rogers won't play every down, and Mason seems to be at his best as a reliever.

    "The Cost"
Rogers said that he "didn't hold anyone hostage" and that is slam on the mark.
The contract in under $20mil which is not a bad deal for a sure fire Hall of Famer, as long as he ends it on a bang.
I think it is worth the roll of a dice.

    "The Front Office"
This isn't a move that will save face for our heroes in the Front Office, namely Omar.
Omar's bargain basement shopping may be working to build a core and that remains to be seen.
The real test is having the Guts to make the moves that put next level players on the roster.
He must also step up to the plate and be a GM, if coaching is not getting the most out of his players, something has to change.

This move does fall squarely on the owner.
It really isn't an assumption that Omar and Tomlin said "This is the best move for us, we can win with this guy."
    And Art signed the check.
Hopefully, he issued a reminder; We need a QB, I need to see a QB next year. This is temporary.

    "The Now"
It's time to sit and watch how it plays out.
I would love to an old time gun-slinger go out in a Blaze of Glory... throwing TDs and driving deep into the playoffs and a chance for the prize.
Of course it could be a complete lemon but that's so dramatically pessimistic and boorish.
Y.A. Tittle's end came here in Pittsburgh. A sack by "Big John" Baker provided one of the most iconic photos I've ever seen for the game. I wish for a better ending for Rogers.

I don’t get all the people picking the Steelers to finish under .500. It’s just not happening - very unlikely, at best. They’ve had worse rosters in recent years and still managed 9+ wins. Dodgers isn't our saviour, but he will do a totally fine job until we can grab a young QB in next year's draft. The ceiling might not be sky-high, but 10 wins wouldn’t surprise me, especially if they bring in another No. 2 or 3 receiver.

I'm surprised, but relieved. Was tired of hearing about it. Thought he'd wait until right before training camp, so I'm glad it's finally over now. Love him or hate him, Rodgers is our best option that's available going into the 2025 season.
