If 41-year-old Rodgers signs they can't have Jones be a turnstile at LT.

Maybe he need to be traded to the rams like Dotson if he want to play at his full potential

Well, I can say one thing. If Broderick Jones plays well on the left side, it is going to be VERY frustrating (despite being a great thing for our team). It would just prove that we made the wrong decision at LT the past year (or more) by continuing to put Dan Moore on the field. Moore was absolutely awful in pass pro (gave up the most sacks by a T in 2024) and had been for his entire tenure as a starter. Not giving the younger player the nod in an otherwise close competition was a mistake in my opinion. We knew Moore was trash (Tennessee obviously disagrees, lol), but we could've allowed Broderick to develop on the field in the position we drafted him to play. If he truly was playing poorly because he was out of position at RT, it will be a tough pill to swallow. Especially right after we did the same thing to Dotson.

The same Dotson that cost his team a chance to win against the Eagles in the playoffs .

And if Jones played LT last year, who was going to play RT with Fautanu injured?

The eagles had the best pass rush in the NFL last season,I don't put huge stock on that since many players on the o-line in this league was bad against them.Dotson would never have a huge contract if he would stay one more season with the steelers(unless if they are idiot like the 3-14 titans) since the steelers put him out of the position like the steelers did in the last 2 years with Jones. The rams have much better coaching, top to bottom

That better coaching didn't help Dotson from blowing the game, he had a penalty and missed a block on their last drive IIRC.

It was against a crazy pass rush of the eagles...Like I said many was bad against that defense in 2024...It don't change that Dotson has been a very good guard since he is with the rams since McVay know how to use his players to be at their best!

    this

    Tomlin botches A LOT.

but his injury last year too held him back. that and poor OL coaching. He may fail here and succeed elsewhere.

get ready for it.....TIME WILL TELL.

much less often or the rams would not gave a big contract to Dotson after only 1 season with us.The rams have one of the best front office in the league too

In that instance it would've had to have been Jones, since despite being a bad LT... Moore can only play left. He should've been told to learn right tackle and compete for both jobs. If Fautanu wins (which it sounds like he would've) then Moore is the back up LT and if RT goes down, then Jones would swing.

Why wouldn't it? If Jones is a solid LT and a bad RT, then why would it have been the right decision to start Moore (who is a bad LT to begin with)? Jones might just be bad, but if he plays well this year... then it pretty much proves we made the wrong move in 2024 starting Moore. We've botched Jones' development because we deferred to a veteran who wasn't going to be here long term. We've forced him to play out of position to accommodate the shortcomings of a substandard player. That is not a good decision in my book.

I'm surprised he was at the LT position today. It's rare that players are in their natural position for the steelers o-line.

Would yall stop with this stupid out of position bull****. Seriously. The Steelers ran/run a predominantly zone based blocking scheme. That isn’t dotson’s strength. His strength is in a gap scheme which coincidentally is what the rams run.

I don't understand the whole played out of position. He played both sides in college, and in the pros, and most reported that they thought He was a better RT, than a LT, and was better suited for the RT position.
I think people are wrong about Moore. I can count 5 sacks off the top of my head where the Qb drifted straight into the lane He was passing the rusher up the field. Our last Qbs outside of Mason do not step up in the pocket, they drift left , or right . Pickett, Trubisky, Fields, and Wilson all do this, which makes it extremely hard on the LT, and RT tackles. When You get beat, and you will , You are taught to take them up field past Your Qb, but if Your Qbs don't like to step up in the pocket, and drift left , or right instead.....well is makes it even harder on whomever is playing LT, or RT.

The first part is true, but the majority of his (relatively short) collegiate career was spent at LT - e.g., he played 25 snaps as a freshman; the bulk of which were at RT. He played 11 games (434 snaps) as a soph, most at LT (I don't have the exact breakdown). Junior year (805 snaps) was at LT.

He was considered a strong, high-physical traits guy who was raw with technique. I don't remember hearing much about him projecting at RT, but maybe you saw different breakdowns that I did.
