Not everyone is going to get it correct. If they did there would be no use in free agency. Also some of those picks are gone, nit because they couldn't play, but because of their attitudes.

Yeah, I've been critical of every receiver "Supposedly" brought in with contested catch ability. I thought the object of the WR game was to get open, give me a WR that can get open and catch every time over a great contested catch guy where you're throwing into coverage.

Take it however you like. But we do not have a history like other teams with keeping our own players.

People shouldn't show fear of a question, but that's today's generation. Oh no....I can't answer, because it may make everything I think look stupid....so I just won't answer , and it will go away.

I have to try to find them again, but I've come across a couple of breakdowns that included filters to those resigned - e.g., APY of those re-signed was in the top 10% at their position.

Adds a little color to what you're asking.

I answered the question. you just do not like the response. So maybe you failed at reading, so I will say it again....
we have a history of not being able to retain our own draft class.

Wow some people hate to read/comprehend on this board

But you just saying that again doesn't make it true.
We don't know where you are getting the stats to back up your argument.
That source would be a good place to start. If that source has flawed methodology, then repeating those numbers over and over again is not useful.

You made an assertion on your May 10th post about Steelers draft retention from 2009-2023.
The only link you provided so far was to an OverTheCap article from 2017 (which you got from ChatGPT) about the top-10 picks from 2004-2013. That has almost nothing to say about overall draft retention from 2009-23, especially since the Steelers did not have any picks in the top 10 in the time period of that article.

Thor had some very reasonable questions about the numbers you provided, and pointed out why they were suspect. You haven't addressed those at all.
For instance he pointed out that draft picks from 2022 are still on their rookie contracts, so cannot have a 2nd contract yet (let alone a 3rd contract).

And how are you defining 2nd and 3rd contracts defined? A 1st round pick can be on the team for 8 years and not have a 3rd contract. Rudolph had 3 contracts in 6 years (rookie, 1 year extension, 1 year vet min).
If a player is cut then resigned a game later in the season, is that a new contract? Not retained?

You stated that the Chiefs had a 85.7% draft pick retention.
Forget for a second that you never defined what "draft pick retention" means.
23 players in the 2021, 2022, 2023 drafts. Still on rookie contracts, so cannot have 2nd (or 3rd) contracts
Let's exclude them for now. That leaves another 56 players in the 2009-2020 drafts.
Let's look at how many players spent their first 5 seasons (or more) on the Chiefs: 11 (20%)
    Not anywhere close to 85.7%.

I suspect that you used "draft pick retention" to mean how many drafted players were on the roster their rookie year, but then compared that to Steelers signing players to 2nd and 3rd contracts. Not remotely the same thing.

How about before we start launching barbs at those asking into the assertion being made we first answer some of the questions being put forth.

I'm not saying your wrong - I haven't dug into any data to disprove it - but the onus of providing something that backs it up falls on you, and thus far, as STD, MJB, and I have pointed out, there are some significant questions/flaws that need to be addressed.

Khan and Weidl know what they are doing, Tomlin and Art do not, hence - WE MEANDER

    1. As a Verb (to meander)
It means to move slowly and without a clear direction or purpose:

And line i said earlier to @S.T.D@S.T.D is you can take it however you want. You can view it like you did, view it as a problem, etc.

I'm just letting y'all know we don't retain players from our draft line other teams do.

I did answer it before and even told @S.T.D@S.T.D he could take it as he wanted. You can say how other teams took from us, players suck, etc. Or whatever excuses you wants to come up with. It doesn't matter.

All I was doing is letting y'all know we're not like other teams in retaining our own draft picks.

As far as me backing it up.
    1. That's your rule, not mine.
    2. We just saw our 2022 draft get traded of our top two picks and others not able to stay on the field.

Like I said, take it however you want. Which was my first reply to you.

You just don't understand it's an answer and want to turn it into a problem.

rudolph and freiermuth the only legit ones we've been able to retain from selecting them in the draft.
You can add loudermilk, even though there's no production from him.

You keep acting like it's a statement, and it's a question, and You some reason won't answer it.
Me = It's your vehicle red, or a different color.......
You= Take it however You want.
Me = Why won't you answer my question.
You= I did. Take it however you want.
Me = OK whatever that answers.
You= you want to turn it into a problem. LoL
    Me= Never mind

You can have the best draft classes in the universe each and every year but if you fail to develop and/or coach them up they will all look underwhelming. Players don’t make it to the NFL without being super talented but they have to be coached to the next level. Our staff does not have the ability to take these teams to the next level. Give half the coaches in the NFL the talent that we had with the killer B’s and that defense and we win another SB. Our staff couldn’t even win a simple first round playoff game.
