Thank you. So far so good. The other son and wife are heading the other direction for their scheduled appointment today. She is at 26 or 27 weeks. I get 2 this summer. Happy grandpappy. :smiley1::cool:

As a college student I witnessed both a natural and Cesarean section delivery. I was fascinated (dumbfounded may be the better word) at how they knew how to stitch everything back up again with the latter.

My daughter was born by Cesarean, but I have no idea what the procedure looked like. I'm normally not squeamish at all, but I had no interest at all in seeing my wife cut open like that. I was allowed in the OR, but they had a curtain keeping me from seeing anything but her head and right arm. (The arm was to give the anesthesiologist access, I think.) When the surgeon asked me if I wanted to see my daughter being born, I looked over at the anesthesiologist and asked if I wanted to see. He realized I meant that I wanted to see the birth, but not the opening they had cut in my wife. He told me to just look straight ahead and not down, and I'd be fine. I did exactly that.

I was a full 10-pounds when they decided it was time, so I was induced and came ultimately by a C-section as well. Back then dads weren't permitted in the OR, which was a blessing - they would've been picking mine up off the floor. He still tells stories about seeing me for the first time before they cleaned me up to this day. :lolol:

None of my dads doctor friends liked delivering babies so they all asked my dad to do it

He brought about 4000 babies into the world including most of the kids in my grade school

He told one of my very large friends he slapped him twice when he was born :smiley1:

He also told a groom while in the wedding reception line that he had seen the grooms wife naked

All of my kids were born C-section. I remember the curtain. I was told to stay behind it or I would contaminate the sterile field. But there was a mirror positioned for seeing what was going on. I just sat there and talked to my wife the whole time. She was awake through them but sedated enough she either didn't feel or didn't care what they were doing. Once the babies were out the anesthesiologist pushed that plunger and my wife went nighty night. The nurse handed me the child and I carried them to the warmer.

Now, with the grands, I haven't been at the hospital. I wait at home until I get the call. I go see them the next day.

That prompted me to find other Rodney Dangerfield quotes:
    • I went to see my doctor. I told him once, "Doctor, every morning when I get up and look in the mirror I feel like throwing up. What's wrong with me?" He said, "I don't know, but your eyesight is perfect."
    • My wife and I were happy for 20 years. Then we met.
    • I told my wife a man is like wine, he gets better with age. She locked me in the cellar.
    • I told my kids, "Someday, you'll have kids of your own." One of them said, "So will you."

It is a Rodney Dangerfield joke, not Gleason, though any line sounds funnier in the voice of Sheriff Buford T. Justice.
