Not his fault if Tomlin thinks the first quarters don't matter much(link below) and his sorry defense gives up points almost every drive come playoff time no matter what....I mean Tebow had 316 passing yards on 21 pass attempts against us, it's embarrassing:facepalm:...Ben had almost no margin or error in several of those games.

Cowher also had a HOF QB for just 3 years. He went to AFC Championship in the first, SB in the second. The third years was a wash because of Ben's motorcycle injuries and Cowher's domestic issues.

Cowher and Ben were 27-4 together in the first 2 season including the playoffs!

The exact amount of special privileges that a team that wins one , or two games get.....exactly the same, and this bull crap about teams that win a few games in the playoffs, therefore makes them closer to the SB the next year is completely false. Many , many , many teams have won multiple playoff games, and that same team never sniffs a SB. I can give thousands of examples, and so could you if You think about it. This is some ego thing to you, and that's all. Once You make the playoffs......that's it....You either make the SB, or You don't.

Hard to have a HOF Qb if Your not looking for one, who do we blame that on???
Come on , we brought 8n Kent Graham.....that's worse than bringing in Trubisky. LoL

    And this changes what???
When You, this guy, or anyone can tell me what once you make it to the playoffs ....winning one , or two games gets you something more than anyone else that has made the playoffs, and not made the SB.....then.....then...I'll pay attention.....until then....once You make the playoffs.....there is only one thing left....make the SB.
Example: I watched the Jets make the AFC Championship twice in a row.....they did not come any closer to making the SB....in fact they went backwards.....I can give thousands of examples of this throughout the NFL history of teams winning multiple playoff games, and that team never making the SB.....so what's the point???? You win enough to make the playoffs, and then you win enough to make the SB.....nothing more, nothing less....no consolation prizes.

    You are wrong

Go to the title game once or twice, it doesn't guarantee future success, but look back at 2019.

The Chiefs in 2019 were very close the year before.
2020 Bucs... They added a six-time champion at the QB position.
2021 Rams: Went to the Super Bowl in 2018.
2022-2023 Chiefs: They had already won the Super Bowl in 2019, but they also learned from their disappointing loss in 2020 and their collapse vs bengals in 2021.
2024 Eagles: They were very close in 2022.

I don't think the Steelers in 2005 won the Super Bowl without the experience Ben gained in 2004.

Of course, there will always be exceptions like the Rams in 1999, the Ravens in 2000, and the Pats in 2001, but the odds are better if you was close before

It's Ben fault for turning the ball over in the playoffs, he had three interceptions in the first half against the Browns let's blame the HC . And Ben gifted the Jaguars 14 points with his turnovers early in the game, career playoff stats under Tomlin 26 TDs and 20 interceptions not elite stats.

True he was better under Cowher since Cowher knew the importance of having fast starts, regular seasons, or playoffs.I agree with you about the Cleveland game, but not about the game against the Jaguars.

The playcalling in that game was awful, too conservative in the first five plays, with only screens and runs in the middle. For the first interception, they were on third down and long against the best pass defense in the NFL and if it had been an incomplete pass or a checkdown for a few yards, the Jaguars would have recovered the ball likely in midfield after a punt, and good chance, it would have been a touchdown for the jaguars anyway.

Our sorry defense and the fact that our players were more locked in for the game against the Pats the next week were why they lost.

I think you're both right in ways. He's talking a single-season view, which to an extent, in the modern era of free agency, injuries, coaching/coordinator moves, etc., has some merit.

But so does yours. If a team is determined to make a run and has a good owner and FO, they can typically keep the core together for a few years. And as you alluded to, it allows them to tweak positions in the offseason. I think one of the bigger examples in recent years was the Rams and Lions flipping Stafford and Goff.

The Rams had already threatened deep playoff ability, but didn't think Goff wasn't quite the guy for their system. The Lions weren't a SB threat yet, they were building. So they were willing to make the trade. A couple of years later, now they are, with Goff in tow.

People forget that Ben and the offense put up around 40 points in those losses to the Jags and Browns. Yes he turned the ball over but if our defense could have just held those 2 teams to under 35 points we would have won both games.

True, great teams are able to overcome some turnovers even in a playoffs game...The Pats won several playoffs game when Brady had mutiples turnovers in a game. When the margin of error for your QB is very slim, this is very hard to win

Again.....I can give You thousands of examples of teams winning playoffs game, and that team never reaching the SB. Thousands, and if You stop being stubborn, You can to. Off the top of My head 90s and, 2000s Vikings, 2000s Jaguars, 2000s Jets, 2000s Chargers, 2000s Browns, The 2000s Packers since their only SB....they have won many of playoff games, but never reached the SB again....These are fast off the top of My head, I could go on , and on , and on... to win a playoff game means nothing, only winning enough to get You to the SB counts.....Hell I've know this since I was a kid.

Only 1 team can win the super bowl per year my friends,so of course there are several examples on what you mention

But the majority of Super Bowl champions all knocked on the door at some point a few years before, but of course there are exceptions to all of them, but the odds are much better if you were close before.

Don't be surprised if, at some point, the Bills or Ravens win the Super Bowl in the Allen or Lamar era... I can't guarantee it will happen, but they have the best odds among the teams that haven't won the Super Bowl in this decade.

My point is this is more likely to win a super bowl at one point if you are in the hunt for several years vs being a one hit wonder like the 2017 jaguars

Ben had a fast start in one playoff run and that was in 2005, you can't blame turnovers on the play calling .

They lost the turnover battle 5-0 to the Browns that's on the offense not on the defense.

The defense couldn't force one turnover? After an offensive turnover they couldn't force a punt or even limit the Brown's to a FG? Even if all 5 turnovers led to a TD that's 35 points. Ben and the offense put up 37. No the defense rolled over and gave up 48 frickin points.

I can't help but think that Tomlin and Khan are responsible for running off the last 2 season starting QBs the Steelers had in Kenny Picket, and now Justin Fields.

Tomlin and Khan are running this team into the ground by not allowing these young QBs to develop. We are definitely the new NFL Browns, when it comes to QBs. The butt of everyone's jokes, and Tomlin and Khan deserve to be a laughingstock in NFL circles.

Also, the 2nd straight year they ran off the teams #1 WR from the previous year. Laughing my ass off at the Steeler Fans who think the team that Khan and Tomlin have built for 2025 is anything but a dumpster fire right now :roflmao:

I will not be surprised at all to see TJ Watt skip town at the end of the season.

Ben had only 2 playoffs run under Cowher and one of those was when he was a rookie

And for the fast start,I was not talking only in the playoffs but also in the regular season...Under Tomlin, our offense is almost every year in the bottom half in the league in PPG in the first quarter....If you look under Cowher with Ben,they were at the top in the league(like top 3) in PPG in the first quarter in 2004 and 2005 so when it was the case and the steelers had a good lead at the start, the steelers would play Cowherball for the rest of the game to protect the lead and the steelers under cowher was 110-1-1 with a 11 points lead or more at some point during the game

This tweet was after the 2023 season so it don't include the awful loss vs ravens when the ravens had 299 rushing yards and Lamar had a very good game but it still show how bad our defense have been in the playoffs

When you don't have margin from error and you have to force things more offensively, that's when turnovers can come, as it was the case against the Jaguars.
