Agree. He’s wired to coach a brand of offensive football that the rules of the game don’t support anymore.

Why is running yards, and running tds ok for the Qb, but 55td pass, and only 20 ints somehow different if the pass wasn't over a certain amount of yards??? LoL.

Rushing yards and TDs would have meant nothing too if he wasn't efficient at everything else and the offense were bad

I don't know what is your point,I was talking about Ben in 2021....It was obvious he was not the same QB,by far his 2 worst season in his career(with 2006) even if his TD-INT ratio was good

Ben was 9-7 in the final season,he was very good in the first 2-3 month of 2020 but when the other teams had started to play in the short stuff of our offense it was over and the steelers were 10-12 in the final 22 games with him as starter!...Kenny Pickett was 14-10 with us,do you think he was a good QB with us?

I'll be watching, but I don't think that anything about the team is a lost cause, and I don't believe You can win 10 , or more games in the regular season, and not win in the playoffs. $hit happens sometimes that has nothing to do with any coaching. Like all of Your best offensive players are not playing in a playoff games, or Your team snaps a ball over everyone's head into the endzone, or You have to go to a place that the many last guy of defense can't even play, and then you get beat in overtime by a pass that the last guy on defense wouldn't have allowed. Stuff happens.

I read Tomlins quote and it pissed me off and I responded

I think that philosophy puts them behind the 8ball and doesn’t put them in the best position to win in the postseason.

LoL. What took so long, I was wait on some of this crap thinking. Example: it was bad for Ben, but You wanted to keep a Qb(Fields) who wouldn't throw over the middle, or throw anywhere the guy wasn't college open.....who will be lucky to throw 55 tds in 5 years. Make that make sense. LoL

For Fields....This is very possible that he would been bad but it would have been better for the Steelers to give him a real chance instead of giving the job to a washed-up QB like Wilson. The upside of Fields was much better that a old QB

I don't put a lot of stock at what Fields did in Chicago since he had one of the most clueless head coaches in NFL history.

And considering the HC is 'all about defense' the fact that the Steelers were last in the league last season in 1st qtr points against is downright sad.

No, I’m a sucker who will tune in and scream at the TV every week knowing that the end result will be 10-7 and a first round blowout loss in the WC round.

Can't every $hit player have clueless HCs. Also You can't say Tomlin can't coach, but then say You think Fields would be good here....you are going against you own self. How about we make a bet on how well Fields does for NY, or are you already saying their HC is clueless???

This just has Stephon Tuitt vibes all over again. He’s trying to find the fire to return to a grueling 17 week season and can’t get there.

I don't know if the Jets head coach will be good or not, and I don't know if Fields will be good or not, but one thing was certain: the ceiling for Fields was much higher than that of an old Wilson last year, and maybe we would have our QB of the future right now if Tomlin had given Fields a real chance.

Also, it's hard to be more clueless than that, and it wasn't the only time... He cost the Bears at least three games last year by himself.

warren swinging out of the backfield and the strong safety headed towards him, the LB trying to cover the 6-8 donald parham heading down the seam which holds the free safety, DK metcalf now in one on one with a corner on one side of the field streaking down the sideline, calvin austin 3 beating his one on one coverage deep with his speed for the score. there ya go simple. :smiley1::cool:

I think earlier I had mentioned late May as the signing, I misspoke on that.
I would expect around Mid June.
While Rogers is dealing with those issues, he does have an obligation to let Tomlin and company something around that time.

If Rogers retires, I'm not sure how this is going to work.
Teams don't have to cut anyone unless they are nice and let them get a chance to go somewhere else, during preseason.
Picking up a serviceable QB might be doable after preseason ends but coaching them up is a different story.

So I am with the rest of the world... uncertain what happens.
If Pittsburgh started making some moves to get a QB, then I assume Rogers has informed them of pending retirement.
If Pittsburgh stays pat, then I assume the deal is still on.
I don't think they are comfortable at all going with the 3 they have... I think that's just saber rattling.
But it may work out that there are no other options.
