I think that with trade time coming up guys may be knuckling down a notch, auditioning for other teams.
And with the starting pitching they have, yes I think they could win three games in a row if they first figure out how to score more than two runs a game.
The 1970s Pirates would have won 120 games with a pitching rotation like this.

No player is doing that and no team is going to enable it. That would give star players too much power.

Why would they do that? Owners are going to do what is best for themselves first, the team second, then the player. Nutting is incredibly selfish. He won't trade Skenes unless it benefits him, and right now, it doesn't.

That sucks. I was hoping to see Skenes, Jones, and Chandler in the rotation together at some point this season. That said, it's well past Bubba time. The Pirates should stop dicking around and bring him up.

The owners are not going to force Nutting to sell. Why should they? He does nothing to stand in their way. In fact, he supports them by allowing his few better players to enter the free-agent market or trades them off cheaply, allowing them to remain competitive. The more the Pittsburgh fans stay away, that's more available seats for the visiting team's fans. I do not see where the players have any juice in the equation either. If they don't play, they don't get paid. The uniform player contracts restrict their ability to move on unless they reach certain service related levels. If they refuse to play, their service time clock stops and they are still stuck in Pittsburgh.

The only way they would force him out is if he pulls Marge Schott like stunts like praising Hitler, or mistreating his minority players like she did. Or, to a lesser extent, mismanaging his organization into the ground like Frank McCort did with the Dodgers, but seeing as how the Pirates are not a premier location marquee franchise like LA, that's probably not going to happen.

Has the thrill of PNC died down? Other team fans still flocking? I get that fans from other teams that are close to Pittsburgh will show up but I would think fans from far away already made their journey. I remember both times I went back, I had fans from Montreal (Expos) all around me and then the White Sox the year after they won WS I sat with their damn fans all around me.

Your right, Nutting family is making great money and ain't going anywhere. Lease expires in 5 years. 5 nasty years of Pirate baseball and I'm convinced the Pittsburgh Pirate organization will expire.

Great staff for a better team. Sucks for Jones but at least he won't have to pitch wasted gems. I hope he comes back strong for some team.

I see Heaney is pitching well today. Got him an offensive explosion, 2 runs so far.

Ho hum. Bucs win another series against the Big Red Machine. Feels like the early 90's all over again. :applaud:

Some damn good pitching. Tripled their offensive output from Tuesday's W. It's a start. Would love seeing them do the same against the Brewfarts these next 4 games.

    As Aerosmith said, dream on;)

What a waste of a decent staff.
