contract talks are going on. will he even want to stay? his brother JJ moved on from his first team. was the sawyer pick and even the herbig pick the steelers way of getting ready IF it does happen. i know we can franchise him next year if we have too. would they? would we get two lack luster years of him trying to remain healthy? JJ was beat up going to his last two teams.

He will stay if they offer him $40 million.
We don't have a franchise QB, so I wouldn't pay that.

Why would he when he can go to the Chiefs and get 64 sacks in a season after they start calling holding against him?

He’ll stay if they give him more guaranteed money than Garrett.

I never understood the JJ move to Arizona. He wasn't going there to win a Super Bowl, like some aging veterans bounce around to get a ring. He does live there now, so maybe it was a family thing.

I could see TJ wanting to go to a better team, if he wants to compete in a Super Bowl. I don't know if JJ regrets not ever playing in a Super Bowl.

I think the Steelers are 2 years into a 10 year drought of having a hope of Winning anything in Post Season. It will be long after TJ retires that the Steelers see a Playoff Win.

well he is our best player and his contract will run out after this year. contract talks have gone nowhere up to this point. there isn't a lot to talk about at this point in the season. we have discussed all the space ship movies. :smiley1::cool:

he has not been to a Superbowl..even Dan Marino went to it.TJ is not a SUPER STEELER. He is EXCELLENT. But hasn't even won a playoff game. If they want to trade him go ahead. But if they do, they best get someone who can really help us win a Superbowl.

I'm sick of our team not having more money to give our players. We are practically on the bottom of the 32 teams list as far as money is available. Why are we so poor and teams like Dallas and Giants have money coming out of their wazzuuuuu

Where are you reading this. The Steelers on field Payroll is always one of the highest in the league. They do not do void years, so they are always at the bottom of the list for dead cap money.

I don't know what you mean by "money is available".

I'll bet Khan's strategy is to let Watt play the last year and let him go. Reasoning probably is declining production and likelihood of injury and high cost. Those third contracts are very iffy according to Colbert because you never know what kind of production you'll get for your money, often paying dead money for cut player or injury case.

Anybody know what comp pick the Texans got when his brother J.J. Watt went to the Cardinals?

If he lets Watt leave without compensation we should all storm the castle.

The CAP is the same for every team, some maneuver contracts to get the most out of particular years, but in the end it all comes to fruition. Some rollover, but again the accountling is still according to the CBA. When people comment they forget legally this is the players money, how it is distributed is up to the team, the union has (had) a page someplace on line that gave an explaination of where the money goes, the CAP amount is what is 'left over' (for lack of better term) after the other agreed to thing in the contract are paid out.
