It would be nice if Rodgers showed up for OTAs if he plans on signing with the Steelers .

If he signs we get a shot to make noise in the playoffs. Watt and Cam get their shot too. We’ll just have to give away more draft capital to get our franchise Qb in 26.

Sad thing is, Ben in his final years was still better than what we have seen at QB since he retired. It was a shell of prime Ben though. It will be a while before we see that here again.

was it better? they changed how he operated the offense to try to make him better. 3 yard passes are completions i guess.

5 different starters at QB since Ben retired and not a single one even came close to passing for 3K yards in a season and 4 of the 5 had low single digits in TDs. Ben's last season he threw for 3740 and 22 TDs. Too many INTs his last year but he was still better than anyone else on the roster then and still today.

It's also very possible that in the final years, Matt Canada made Roethlisberger look very bad.

I remember in the first three quarters of almost every game in 2021, our offense was so sad to watch, but when Roethlisberger had much more control of the offense in the fourth quarter, our offense was on another level.... Almost half of the Steelers' points that year were in the fourth quarter, and he had seven comeback wins in the fourth quarter.

It's true that at that point, Ben was very limited; he couldn't constantly complete passes past the yellow line for the first down and he couldn't move, so it was time for him to retire, but Canada made him look even worse.

And yes the steelers QB play, especially in 2022 and 2023 (outside when it was Rudolph at the end of 2023) was much worse than Ben in 2021

what did we win? c'mon, ben was a shell of himself at that point. none of those 5 had been in the offense for 17 years either. i don't see rodgers in one season doing anything either. just delaying the inevitable. even ben would have a hard time with this offensive roster as it sits.

I don't disagree with you Mac. But we didn't have anything better on the roster at the time, and still don't IMO.

Edit: to add, the steelers FO and coaching staff has been woefully inept at acquiring and/or developing QB talent for the past 20 years excluding BR. It's almost criminal how bad they are at it.

Here is the facts, You can decide if it was better or worse.
Old Man Broken Down Ben's last 2 years V.S. the 5 Qbs in the last 3 years added together.....
Ben last 2 years = 55tds passes, and 20 ints
Other 5 Qbs in the 3 years since = 45td passes, and 29 ints.
Now remember that's only 2 years for Ben vs 3 years for the rest, and still Ben had more tds, and less ints.
We will have to go into a forth season just to catch up with Ben's 2 seasons of tds.

The word going around is that there's a 99.9% chance that Aaron will sign in Pittsburgh.
The .1% is split between retirement and the Saints.

The prima donna BS doesn't float with me. I kinda understand Rogers in that when my career was coming to an end I said "Pound Sand" to ethical training, sexual harassment training and some of that other stupid S@#T they hit you with.... especially the "learning hours" I needed to burn. (I don't want to learn anything, I want to forget stuff)
So I get the dumb OC's rubbing him wrong. Imagine Matt Canada... whew.

Anyhow, bad or good... it's what our Front Office and Coaching has determined to be the direction.
I can only complain on the internet.

I understand your point and as someone who didn't like Ben's Day or the sudden revelations about AB sneaking off campus to a rental house instead of sleeping in the dorms like everyone else the "I've put my time in " attitude irks me. It's just a distraction but who knows maybe Tomlin can control him lol.

One thing I hope for and stated before about athletes in general and not just Rodgers have the balls to back up your crap instead of lying about it. If you feel after almost 20 years in the league that you dont want to hit camp at Latrobe say it instead of hand wringing about retiring. If you are too set in your ways to want to change then say it and dont throw teammates under the bus because guess what most of them dont get a 20 million a year contract. Saleh was a hell of a defensive coordinator and was getting his first taste of being a HC, Rodgers should have been first in line defending him instead of saying it was everyone else's problem that the Jets sacked and had nothing to do with his drop off in play. Come on Aaron be a man, get your nut sack back from the shaman and admit you sacked for the last 3 years.
