Valdez put on 60 day IL, Rodriguez sent on rehab assignment to Indy. That puts them thin at 1B, so I predict we will get to see Spencer Horwitz very soon. He should be about healed.

Where's Dr Strange-glove when we need him? He bailed out Roy Face in the bottom of the 9th on countless occasions.

Tough decision for me. Any other Sunday I'd lean heavily on going but the 4 Majors of the PGA Tour I watch heavily and Sunday is final round of the second Major of 2025. If someone is ahead by 6-7 strokes come Saturday night my decision gets tough again.

 

Looks like Nick Solak and Spencer Horwitz will be with the team in Philadelphia tonight. Can’t be worse than what we have been getting.
I think they DFAed Helman. They just got him. I don’t know if he was ever even fitted for a cap.

Idiot's have lost 2 to Phillies soooooooo maybe Skenes pitches a gem today and I see a Pirate win in Philly.

 

Canario seems to be adjusting and actually has some decent underlying metrics. He will be my pick to click today along with Skenes as Pirates grab a win. Took them at -105.

Skenes is not without power here. He should meet privately with Kelly and say that if they don’t have two new bats in the lineup by his next start, he won’t take the mound. Let them fine him, the worst that could happen is that the Yankees, Angels, or Dodgers pay his fine and buy out his contract.
In fact the whole pitching staff should follow suit.

 

That would be a punk move if Skenes did that. Lets go on strike, yes that's the answer ! Give me a break.

Actually, the pirates should do the honorable thing and trade Skenes tomorrow. The ownership and management have no intention of trying to actually win so trade is his kid before his HOF numbers are compromised. The Pirates don’t deserve him.

Nutting will do something only when forced to. The fans don’t have any power, Nutting would still have revenue even if the stadium was empty each night. The Commissioner works for the owners, and is not going to do anything, though I remember at least one owner forced to sell a team, Marge Schott. The players could force the issue. If you have no animals, you have no circus.

 

Looks like Jared Jones will need TJ surgery. Will miss this and probably all of next season. Lightning in a bottle for Jones last season? Hopefully Skenes avoids this fate but.........
