that may be an older Joe Gibbs versus a younger Joe Gibbs. And you have to look at the assistants then and in his later years. Like i said, coaching style doesnt change. Noll was always very focused, no nonsense, and detail oriented. He treated every opponent; the best to the bottom feeders, with respect. Tomlin’s not like that. We’ve seen many times how our Ben led steeler teams were caught unprepared by teams they were supposed to beat. That never happened with Noll’s teams during their heyday.

you put a younger Noll in charge of the Steelers in 2011, i’d bet you’d see considerably more postseason success.

And in the case of Gibbs, when he was the head coach of the redskins in the 2000s,he had a very below average roster with a terrible owner but still make the playoffs twice in 4 years. He is the only head coach for this team to have make the playoffs twice in the Dan Snyder era,so it was not great but it was not a total disaster too

He didn't have a great roster because unlike back before Free Agency, the turnover in rosters are crazy. Did You ever watch football before Free Agency???

LoL, I give up. My whole argument was about HCs before Free Agency, being compared to HCs after Free Agency, and You keep making it about Tomlin, and Noll. So You are not even trying to see my point. You keep saying You bet, but nothing besides, Your guess. I gave the only example of a HC that I knew that coached both for a good amount of time, and that example was Joe Gibbs before Free Agency = 3 SBs, and Joe Gibbs after Free Agency = 1 playoff win.

i wanted to focus on Noll and Tomlin and was comparing their styles. Of course theres a difference now with free agency but that doesnt change how each guy approached games week in and week out. You kept trying to change the argument. Anyway thats fine. We can end this back and forth. Its all good STD

I agree with you that it's a completely different game, I was just saying that Gibbs was not that bad in the 2000s

No he wasn't that bad, I agree, but if You compare a HC that was able to win 3 SBs with the same team before Free Agency, and then after Free Agency he could only win one playoff game. That's a big difference.
There is a big difference in the way You can coach a player that is stuck with a team for their entire career , and how You can coach a player that can go to another team at anytime, and maybe even for more money.

The 6 Pro Sport Championships Pittsburgh won in the 70's would have probably been 3 in todays F'ed up sports world. A lot of them Steelers would have wanted the green. Not Joe;)

4 if Nutting owned the Pirates back then
