    Regarding these personnel changes.

They offered Fields. He got more elsewhere. We don't know yet if upgrade or downgrade.

Fans have been calling for more emphasis on Warren, saying he is the better RB. Now Warren is the team veteran in the RB room. Fans should be thinking upgrade.

DJ, Pickens had to go. Jefferson never should have been here. This room should be an upgrade with DK, CA3, Wilson, and Woods.

LT- fans wanted Moore gone, he's gone. Fans want Jones to play LT, he's the LT. Better be upgrade.

Frazier is an upgrade at Center.

There are still some wait and see positions. QB, OG, RT, but a lot of fans got their wish with how this offense looks this season. Better be an upgrade.

Whiz was a pretty good OC for young Ben.

Curious, what does that start you quite mean to you? Most close games since 2007. Not sure the point you're making there.

    What about me ???
I actually thought Najee was the better back, and Moore the better LT.

    Steelers Avg Scoring Margin.png

The long trend is not pretty..... a sign of an aging QB, change in offensive philosophy, poor OCs, poor defense*? The short trend is more positive.

[note: this is scoring 'margin' so defense is also a factor]

I hope Art II leaves with Tomlin, the sooner the better. Kahn will have to hire the right coach.I hope he is up to the task?

Frazier is an upgrade at Center?! Try generational leap in comparison to Mason Cole. Rookie Zach Frazier clears 2023 Mason Cole by Country Miles. As you said and I have personally been on record in saying, biggest X Factor is Broderick Jones.

Put up or shut up time. No excuses

I wouldn't trust Omar with a bucket of water and my knickers were on fire.
If as an owner, I had to make the decision... I would fire Omar during the season, replace him then go on a HC search after letting Tomlin go.
but that's all a pipe dream.

Khan knew last year he didn't have WR2 but settled for Van Jefferson .

Not disagreeing, per se. My comment was more whimsical - it's no small thing to flip your QB room twice, trade your WR1 and 2, swap RB1(a), both tackles and center, all within two postseasons.

I'd add 'while also staying north of .500', but just like the time somebody tried telling my granddad pro wrestling wasn't real, we'd probably end up with a fight on our hands.

I was only piggy backing on your post. Several of the changes that have happened on offense this year are things different fans have been posting as changes they want. I was making a, 'well here ya go' post. I just used yours as a launching pad.

So again, only for the 150th Novemdecillionth Time, Omar Khan inherited a hellhole mess left by the combined efforts of Tomlin and Colbert. Anyone thinking that, even nabbing something as "simple" as a WR2 would take a minimum of one Offseason doesn't understand how both intricate and complex Roster Building is; doubly so in the pitfalls. Khan's top priority was, and still is, to heavily invest in the trenches. This approach is further aided not only by Assistant GM Andy Weidl but also the fact that, since Khan's arrival, of the 21 picks, 9 of those were on both the Offensive and Defensive Lines. This is heavily due to the botched scouting process of the Steelers from 2020 to 2022; Kendrick Green's inexcusable usage and Kevin Dotson's incorrect positional placement and DeMarvin Leal being a draft bust being tops among the misses. If one elects to count Isaiahh Loudermilk by all means but Loudermilk has done far more with less than Leal ever did.

Getting back on topic, as for Free Agency, this is where much of the frustration with Khan begins to creep in. Patrick Queen is still TBD as learning a brand new Defensive Scheme is very difficult; doubly so coming from a Defensive Scheme in the form of Mike McDaniel; one of the NFLs best overall Defensive Minds. Patrick Peterson, Van Jefferson and Keanu Neal were all misses. However, players like Isaac Seumalo, Elandon Roberts, Cole Holcomb (Pre Injury) and Donte Jackson (turnover production) were all either solid to great signings. Russell Wilson though wasn't the signing that some were hoping to be in the end but he was solid during the limited time he did play (in the beginning anyway).

The best way to assess Khan is not only how the 2025 Class performs this season but if the 2023 Class live up to the expectations and if the 2024 Class have the Sophomore Surge the team is clearly heavily banking on; doubly so in the cases of Broderick Jones and Roman Wilson. I have stated more than enough about what Broderick needs to do so I will not do so this time. As for Roman Wilson, in very limited time, he wasn't great. This time however, he does have a chance. Will he be able to take that big of a leap?! Time will tell.

This touches on what I was pointing out above. In some ways, glancing over the roster now versus two years ago you might not suspect the litany of moves that were made to excise two malcontents at WR 1&2 (replacing at least one), attempt to increase the ceiling at RB, rebuild four-fifths of the offensive line, two-thirds of the d-line, flushing the QB room twice, etc.

It hasn't been perfect over the past two-plus offseasons, but I place more blame on the organization as a whole than Khan. While I haven't agreed with all of Khan's decisions - and certainly think Weidl has been instrumental in talent evaluation - the mess he's trying to dig them out of began with some draft reaches/misses pre-dating Covid, and continues to be complicated by the club's insistence to 're-tool' and compete simultaneously.

    Yep.

Khan was given a terrible hand to play. That onus befalls not just Tomlin and Colbert as I have been saying but AR II as well. Khan hasn't been perfect but to assume he is the biggest reason why Pittsburgh hasn't gotten a playoff win is silly.

    The time to "judge" Khan will be what happens in 2026 as there are a number of aspects that do affect him. They are as follows;

1.) Broderick Jones receiving the fifth year option: Pittsburgh has not given a fifth year option to any player drafted by them in the First Round since T.J. Watt circa 2017. That has to change under Khan. That said, much of that will be on both Tomlin and Pat Meyer; a Coach who should have been showed the door.

2.) 2026 Free Agency Class: This technically ties into point number one. Assuming that Broderick does not do well; what are the options?! I sure as hell don't see any; forcing Khan to either draft one early in 2026 or an even worse Nightmare Scenario in having Troy Fautanu switch back to LT as he did at Washington and the the continual cycle of Musical Chairs of Offensive Lineman under Mike Tomlin will continue.

3.) The 2026 Draft itself: It will be held in Pittsburgh, it is going to be incredible (for me anyways) and there will be a lot of eyes on the Steelers and their FO. What better way to give a fanbase hope than to draft the one. That said, remember that Cleveland has two 1s in play for 2026 as well. They necessarily don't need to draft a QB with their top selection. If I were Cleveland, I'd take the second of two 1st and package a deal to nab a signal caller of my choosing; doubly so if it is a target of my arch nemesis. Much like the previous aforementioned statement of how Khan can give the City of Pittsburgh hope, who's to say that Andrew Berry and Cleveland are not gonna play spoiler?! This hypothetical is brought up for Khan is going to have to trade into the Top 10 to do so. As I have outlined earlier though, if there is a team to root for in 2025 to not do so well, I'd choose Tennessee. Even if Cam Ward does well (I think he will), the Titans still will not finish towards a winning record. Even so, I do expect them to finish with a record that will get into the Top 10; a great trading partner as I see it.

Mind you that judge was in quotes for everything Khan has done won't entirely lead up to 2026 to being his "Day of Reckoning." That day will come when Mike Tomlin steps down. Why?! Will AR II allow Khan to pick a Head Coach that he can not only support but trust?!

We will have to wait and see.
