Well... I left out important due to the fact that, by the positions nature of vulnerability, getting the one sets up a team much faster than without; provided the FO and the Owner are competent enough to maximize the window that they have with the QB before the 5th year. The QB position no doubt wields importance but with that level of importance also comes potentially greater danger depending on which NFL Franchise is developing him. If he hits, much like CJ Stroud, well, one is set for quite some time.

As for Arch Manning, I do believe that, barring a historic season for the ages, he will likely stay at Texas. Remember that both Peyton and Eli finished their careers as Seniors for Tennessee and Ole Miss respectively. I see Arch no different; NIL or not.

Could have fooled me in the playoff run of '05. Bengals, Colts and Broncos games.... Ben was no game manager. He was a game changer. Super Bowl XL... yeah, but not the games leading up to it. Hell..... Ben never played that well again in the playoffs AFTER Cowher and during the Tomlin years. He was mediocre in the playofffs for the most part... minus the desperation final drive of XLIII, Chargers divisonal of '08 was meh, Ravens AFC Championship of '08 was decent..... Ravens divisional of '10 playoffs was decent, but not as good as '05 games, same with Jets AFC Championship. Played poorly in XLV.

Calling him a game manager has nothing to do with Bens talent it has everything to do with how Cowher used him. Ben was always great in the first half usually getting of to comfortable leads then in the 2nd half Cowher would play turtle ball and have Ben manage the game.

Again this was all on Cowher as Ben proved in the games you mentioned that he was more then capable leading that team unleashed, which he would prove under Tomlin..

I don’t think the Steelers are ever really going to tank, but I also think if they finish in the bottom 10 next season they won’t be super upset.

They’ve got a lot of draft capital and if they finish low enough then moving up to grab the QB of the future won’t be too pricey.

That said, they’re not going to be bad enough to get Manning. Maybe someone like Allar.

thats why i take Terry over Ben. Terry was smart. He studied film. Maybe if Ben put more effort into film and prep he’d be a better playoff Qb. He was super talented. I think he won alot of those regular season games almost on talent alone.

Say Arch plays 14 games this season that would only be 16 starts in his college career, I think the family will push for him to get more development and stay at Texas for 2026.

I would almost, almost bet money Archie doesn't come out until He plays 2 years. None of the other Mannings did, and they all still to this day preach about learning all You can at the college level. Also not even counting His NIL deals, with his family, he doesn't need the money.

I think the only way he comes out next year is if Texas wins the national championship and he wins the Heisman. He wouldn't have any more to accomplish in college if those 2 things happened.

Put me firmly in the pro tanking category.. the worst for me is knowing the team can't make a legitimate run come playoff time, but at the same time watching teams not in purgatory have massive draft assets with the ability to trade back for massive hauls or take a blue chip QB prospect. Just because those QBs don't workout some years in for some teams doesn't mean it wasn't worth the swing.

Look at the capital Cleveland got for a non QB trade up.. they likely could've had even more capital than that if they moved off 5.. multiple moves after could've netted them greater than *another* #1 pick in addition to their final landing spot (late 1st early 2nd for example). Look at that talent still there late first. Can you imagine what a GM like the Ravens could do with that kind of capital?

Should we just give up on getting a top 10 QB then because it's not a 100% hit rate and the staff hasn't developed one yet? (They haven't really had the chance)

I still think it will be a good QB class without Arch.

On paper it might be. On paper the class of ‘21 was supposed to be spectacular. Lawrence, Z Wilson, Lance, Fields were bursting with upside, and Mac Jones was supposed to be a safe, smart QB pick (I admit he fooled me).

Arch will go wherever he wants to go in the NFL. The Mannings/Goodell will not let him be drafted by a perennial loser like Chargers were back in 2004.

You don't think the Browns are in purgatory?

In the 23 years that the AFC North has existed, Cleveland have never had 2 consecutive winning seasons.
After the 2020 season, there were some who posted that the Browns would dominate the Steelers for the next decade. And here they are, rebuilding (again) after having the worst record in the league.

    Or think about the Bengals.
For all the strong, division leading teams they had 15 years ago, they went 30 years without a playoff win (1991-2020). And despite their dominant teams in 21 and 22 with Burrow, they've struggled the last two years.

Tanking is playing with fire. Most teams have trouble leaving that sort of mentality after they decide to try it.

I also hope Howard is the diamond in the rough. That would be huge. Imagine investing that 1st next season into the trenches.

There is no need for tanking. The offense has turned over so many players, it will be a work in progress. I have a feeling they will be drafting in the teens next season.

    Same.
Since I've been on this board ,only 3 Qb have I said I would take, and preached should be taken, in the 1st round. Burrow, Mac Jones, and CJ Stroud . Man , Mac Jones makes me look extremely stupid .
