I agree that he should have been benched for that one, especially after he gave his explanation. There is plenty Pickens did do wrong during his time as a Steeler, but some folks want to buy into the dubious stories that came out after he was traded.

Oh, I’m sure he was a choirboy other than what we saw. I mean, that’s what the evidence would suggest right?

Just because he was a jackass doesn't mean the Steelers didn't mess up, too.

They failed to find a viable replacement before moving him and settled for a weak return, but other than that, it was perfect. lol

There was player talk last season about one player just out there doing his own thing. I think we know now who that one player was.

That talk was about a player on defense, not offense.

They did what they had to do. Pickens put them in a bad spot and had to be removed.

We’ll see it he bucks the trend of AB, Claypool and DJ or if he becomes a model citizen this year for Dallas. Wouldn’t put money on the later.

If he implodes, getting a 3rd for him will look very good.

The idea we didn't find a replacement before moving him does not fit any valid business model

If you have a bad employee you remove him/her quickly otherwise that just sends the message bad behavior is acceptable

Plus in this case they did get a replacement prior his name is Metcalf

Regardless of what he does, they did not handle it well because they didn't acquire a viable replacement first. Even if they do end up trading for a receiver or signing one, that will likely cost them more because everyone knows they are hurting at receiver again with Pickens gone.

Cancers have a way of doing that, sometimes you have to cut bait and walk away.

The Steelers have a history of knowing when to walk away.

Metcalf is one starter. They need two. We saw them fail in exactly this same way last season, but you somehow think repeating that experience is a good idea.

They didn't get rid of the bad employee quickly, anyway. They tolerated his behavior for three years. He was taking plays off even as a rookie. People posted video and images of him coming to the line with his gloves in his hand, making it very clear he wasn't prepared to catch the ball on that play. It is bad business to leave a role inadequately filled, which the Steelers did last season and seem on pace to do again this year. Counting on a washed-up Robert Woods or thoroughly untested Roman Wilson is not a wise practice. That there was suddenly a report out there about Wilson looking like a completely different receiver right after the Pickens trade is more evidence of the Steelers using media leaks to try to prop up a bad deal.

They have a recent history of leaving gaping holes on the team and not getting enough in return. It's not as if they made that trade during training camp. They did it at the start of May. There was plenty of time, but they seemed to panic.

    Hmm

How come when you go back and forth with a knucklehead you don’t get chastised but some of us do

    Hmm

I’m filing a formal complaint as soon as I can find the form

No one was biting. Dallas is the only team that was interested in him. Thats how bad his behavior is, took a desperate Jerry Jones to up his offer from a 4th to a 3rd. At that point, Khan had to jump on that, get a problem off the team and a decent draft pick in return instead of a year of disruptions and nothing when they lose him after the season.

Two free agents they could bring in will alleviate the problem is Cooper or Allen. I hope they aren’t going to rely on the players already here but I think they might.

It was the first week in May. They didn't have to rush it. They had survived three years of his behavior.

Disruptions? Have you read the various posts about Metcalf's history? What about Rodgers?

Just because you choose not to believe the very obvious true details coming out about his time here doesn’t mean I don’t.

Metcalf and Rodgers combined doesn’t scratch the surface. You’re a teacher, how the **** do you not understand how disruptive it would be to have a student show up late all the time and generally be disruptive in your class all year.

You are assuming the leaks from the team are true. One thing I teach is proper research. If a source is known to be dishonest and has a reason to lie, it is best not to trust the information from that source. As a Steelers fan, how do you not understand the Steelers fit that description?

A good teacher addresses issues rather than expecting the school to expel the student. I thought Tomlin understood that. Perhaps not.

Well, I think the evidence can support a view that the Steelers messed up by drafting him. I liked the pick at the time, but I never had the opportunity to meet him, or his teammates or coaches.

That is also fair, but wouldn't that make it even more likely that the team would want to shift the blame itself to the player by floating even more stories about him whether they were true or not. If they shouldn't have drafted him and couldn't get him to grow up, isn't that a failure by the Steelers?

Perhaps that is why I can spot it more easily than you can.
