There's no doubt about that and I think we would have a winning record with Rodgers but part of me would like to just go with Will Howard this year and see what we have in him. If he has a Bo Nix type of rookie year then great we have our franchise QB. If Howard looks lost and has a miserable season then that just gives the Steelers better draft position next year to take their QB.

Because they don't have a franchise QB, and the draft is expected to be a deep at the QB position. And the fact that they played the comp game to get them to 12 picks next year.

I thought about that too. Rodgers might have told them not to confirm his membership there until he makes his announcement. Or it could be that Filiponi just made the whole thing up out of thin air.

Actually, this is my desire as well, at least start MR then make the change sometime during the season. I get the we field the best team to win stuff, but sometimes you need to actually take a step back from what you have been doing, which has not worked and see what you are working with. Howard may blow everyone away, he may make massive rookie mistakes, but actually show growth that shows even if they go 1st round QB next year, he is a guy you can keep around for a couple of years.

If Rodgers gets you to the PO's and you even win a game, is that truly improvement or just a one year yay look what we did moment?
