He also had a QB rating of like 20 against Seattle in the Super Bowl, they were a run first defensive team.

They go after veteran QBs like Rodgers and Wilson because they believe that gives them a chance to win in the playoffs, not just because they want to win 9 games .

Mason didn't save them, but he played better than that scrub Trubisky who lost to the Patriots and Cardinals in consecutive weeks.

    Ah.

I live on the lake south of Atlanta. People try to say the feel stuff, but I'm convinced they make it up on their head like flat earthers.

They are not close to be in the super bowl if Ben don't step up big on the 3 road playoffs games(125 QB rating in those 3 road playoffs games)....The threat of the playmaking of Ben was crucial for the steelers....The great and HOF Bill Parcells was comparing the start of Roethlisberger to Dan Marino before the steelers-cowboys matchup in 2004

Mason deserves some credit for playing better than Pickett and Trubisky, he made some plays and didn't turn the ball over.

Yes this is when Ben was so good in 2004 and 2005....He was special and it was obvious after only a few games of his rookie season....It was obvious at that time that the steelers had their 2nd franchise QB of their history....At that time only Dan Marino had a similar or better rookie season that Ben at this position

You have to keep things in perspective. I'm not advocating for going overboard with FA spending. Ideally, you want a healthy mix of rookie and veteran contracts. It helps with cap management, keeping a dynamic edge to the talent, and sustainability - too many begin to age or leave at the same time, and it's difficult to replace without taking a hit on the field.

The poor draft returns during Colbert's final four years are affecting things, though. Right now they have to lean on free agents if they want to field a competitive team, because they just don't have much in the way of homegrown talent. Cap space really isn't a issue. The only high-dollar contract they have extending out a few years is Metcalf's. I imagine they'll extend Watt, and Porter is on the horizon, but they're also not likely to be worrying about a franchise QB's salary for at least the next few years, so they can afford to be more aggressive than normal in the market without having to perform gymnastics with the cap.

Both Chiefs and Bills traded up. Very smart moves. Chiefs had to have a low draft pick if they didn't trade up. No way Mahomes would have been around if they waited.

I remember when people would say they felt a 2.0 earthquake (that was a hundred miles away), and say their water in the toilet was moving like a wave.

Ummmm so they looked at their toilet all their life, waiting to see it move? who does that? (Besides a browns fan)

Agreed, you don't have to be in the top ten. You could be at 15 and make a trade. Sure it sticks, because you will miss out on second and third round players.
