Some good tidbits in here. Happy to read the part about Heath and glad to see Ben is determined to make it through a whole season, started working our right after the season ended.

Ben Roethlisberger stopped short of mounting a campaign for the Steelers to match the offer sheet wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders had signed with New England as a restricted free agent.

But Roethlisberger let it be known to the right people that he’d appreciate having Sanders back this season. And he told The Sports Page on Monday afternoon he was “really excited” now that the Steelers have secured Sanders’ services for at least one more season after matching the Patriots’ offer to Sanders on Sunday. “He’s a lot better than people give him credit for being,

”Roethlisberger said of Sanders. “He’s really smart. ”
Roethlisberger considers Sanders equally suited to play a slot receiver position or outside because of a physical skill set that’s “a good mix of speed and quickness.

“It’s good for the team,” Roethlisberger continued. “He’s a good teammate. He can really help. “If he stays healthy I think he can do some great things.”

Other subjects broached with Big Ben after the first day of voluntary off-season workouts included:

-The offensive line: “If they can stay healthy they have the potential to be our best unit.”

-Running back: “I don’t know who the starting running back will be.”

-WR Mike Wallace’s departure as a free agent: “It’s hard to lose that guy.”

-TE Heath Miller’s rehab from knee surgery: “Heath is working out (lifting weights) and he looks great. He’s walking without a limp. From what I saw I think he looked good.”

-Roethlisberger’s off-season: “I started seven days after our last game, doing cardio five to six days a week. Normally, I take a month or two off. I want to make it through 16 games and more. I want to play ’em all.”

This is good news. Ben has always sort of pissed me off with his passive aggressive stuff in the media. I like that we never heard from him directly that he wanted Sanders around. It's fine to talk up your teammate but let the FO do what they do.

This team really needs some leadership, and it'd be great if Ben became that guy 100%.

Maybe we can change his approach and have him play with his back to defenders. That will shift the injuries to our opponents.

Yes, it will be the best blocking scheme known to man. Run off of his side every down when he's backpedaling towards them.

Funny, I thought Ben has already been doing that most of his career?
