QB Ben Roethlisberger was drafted under Cowher but developed under Tomlin.

Justin Fields looked better in 6 games with this coaching staff than he did for 2 seasons with the Bears.

I would say they have been pretty good at developing QBs.

The same Mason Rudolph that went 1-4 and threw 9 picks in those 5 games last year.

I see Tomlin eking out 8 or 9 wins with Rudolph and thats enough to screw their draft position. Tomlin knows best how to use him and Steelers are a much better team than the Titans. The offense did come alive under Rudolph.

Roethlisberger was a super bowl champions and had a 13-0 regular season in his rookie season. He had a awful 2006 season because of his accident. But he had already accomplished big things in the NFL in his young career at that point.

As for Justin Fields, yes, he was better with us than he was with Chicago because the Bears had one of the most clueless head coach the NFL has had in this decade, and his OC wasn't much better, but we can't say the Steelers played to Fields' strengths when he was our QB.... The only thing Tomlin wanted from Fields was to limit turnovers, and he was benched after that, but it was impossible for him to express his talent because he was too handcuffed...If Fields has a very good season with the Jets in 2025, it's going to be an awful look for Tomlin.

It's not comparable to what John Harbaugh did with Joe Flacco and Lamar Jackson, who was just a RB according to many Steelers and other fans and analysts, and who wasn't in the right position at the QB position, but he is a two-time MVP.

But the streak of non losing season stay alive. The playoffs were considered as a very long shot before the final 3 games btw..But I don't think Rudolph can be good for a full season as starter

but but Manning will be better.

I mean he only played a few games and sucked so bad that an injured QB took over. and he never really showed a what kind of ceiling he will have. and people say he comes from a great blood line and to ignore his blue jeans come from the farther who didn't play.

That is sarcasm for you kids who do not know.

Exactly, Duck Hodges won his first 3 starts and became a fan favorite but then was out of the league a year later. Tommy Devito won 3 in a row before he crashed back to earth with the Giants. Jake Browning came in when Burrow was injured and looked great for a few games before he remembered that he was Jake Browning. Josh Dobbs usually looks good for a game or 2 with whatever team he is on before he melts down and has a disastrous outing and back to the bench he goes. Cooper Rush came in a couple of years and led the Cowboys to a few wins.

ok so let me be real......

    Year
    Pick Team Quarterback
2010 St. Louis Rams Sam Bradford
    2011 Carolina Panthers Cam Newton
    2011 Tennessee Titans Jake Locker
    2011 Jacksonville Jaguars Blaine Gabbert
    2011 Minnesota Vikings Christian Ponder
    2012 Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck
2012 Washington Redskins Robert Griffin III
    2012 Miami Dolphins Ryan Tannehill
    2013 Jacksonville Jaguars Blake Bortles
2015 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jameis Winston
    2015 Tennessee Titans Marcus Mariota
2016 Los Angeles Rams Jared Goff
    2016 Philadelphia Eagles Carson Wentz
    2017 Chicago Bears Mitchell Trubisky
2017 Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes
    2018 Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield
2018 New York Jets Sam Darnold
    2018 Buffalo Bills Josh Allen
    2018 Arizona Cardinals Josh Rosen
    2019 Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray
2019 New York Giants Daniel Jones
    2020 Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow
    2020 Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa
2020 Los Angeles Chargers Justin Herbert
    2021 Jacksonville Jaguars Trevor Lawrence
2021 New York Jets Zach Wilson
2021 San Francisco 49ers Trey Lance
    2023 Carolina Panthers Bryce Young
    2023 Houston Texans C.J. Stroud
    2023 Indianapolis Colts Anthony Richardson

Here is the percent the played and the QB rankings they performed on average.
    Trey Lance,10%, 32
    Josh Rosen,15%, 32
    Anthony Richardson,20%, 30
    Jake Locker,25%, 28
    Blaine Gabbert,35%, 29
    Robert Griffin III,35%, 20
    Christian Ponder,40%, 27
    2Bryce Young,50%, 31
    Zach Wilson,50%, 30
    Mitchell Trubisky,60%, 25
    Sam Bradford,60%, 24
    Marcus Mariota,60%, 23
    Sam Darnold,65%, 27
    Andrew Luck,70%, 10
    Carson Wentz,75%, 18
    Jameis Winston,75%, 22
    Daniel Jones,80%, 21
    Baker Mayfield,80%, 20
    Blake Bortles,80%, 24
    Tua Tagovailoa,80%, 12
    Trevor Lawrence,80%, 14
    Cam Newton,85%, 12
    Kyler Murray,85%, 10
    Joe Burrow,85%, 6
    Ryan Tannehill,85%, 17
    Jared Goff,90%, 13
    Josh Allen,95%, 5
    C.J. Stroud,95%, 7
    Justin Herbert,95%, 8
    Patrick Mahomes,95%, 1

    6 are top ten
    9 are the 11-20
    6 are in the 21-25
    9 are in the 26+

out of the 30, 11 of them did not play over 80% as a starter.

So you can say, we have a 2/3 chance to getting a QB who will be a starter (which is better than anything we seen playing for us lately).
or you can say we have a 50% chance they will be ranked in the top 20
or you can say 20% chance they will be in the top ten

I hate to say it. but I would tank based on those odds. and I have never been a tanker.

also notable those teams took these players in the second and third, who selected a QB in the top ten.

Rams 2 Rodger Saffold ..... good
    Titans 2 Akeem Ayers..... average
    Colts 2 Coby Fleener.... average
    Dolphins 2 Jonathan Martin..... bust
    Jaguars 2 Marqise Lee..... average
    Buccaneers 2 Donovan Smith..... good
    Titans 2 Dorial Green-Beckham..... bust
Bengals 2 Tee Higgins..... Good (border line elite)
    Jaguars 2 Tyson Campbell..... good
    Jets 2 Elijah Moore..... average
Panthers 2 Jonathan Mingo..... too early to tell
    Buccaneers 3 Ali Marpet..... Elite
    Bengals 3 Logan Wilson..... good
    Jaguars 3 Andre Cisco..... average
    Jets 3 Alijah Vera-Tucker..... good

so not only do we get a good shake at top ten QB, but we also get a good shake at second and third round turning into something, as long as we do not trade back.

..... and now let me be extra real. no way tomlin would do this. his goal is win 9 and then give up.

I don't know why fans keep mentioning this nonsense like the organization just sits around worried about some meaningless non-losing streak .

If Rodgers signs then Howard won't even play this season, they won't know if he's the guy or not. He fell to the sixth round for a reason, he should be good depth but I think they will still be looking for a QB in 2026.

I guess you missed it when Khan said they're trying to win a championship this season, you can disagree with him all you want but to think they want to win 9 games just to make Tomlin look good is just BS.

I wanted them to sign CB Nate Hobbs in free agency, I think our new secondary coach coached Hobbs with the Raiders. But Khan didn't want to spend big money in free agency, he was more worried about acquiring comp picks instead.

I wouldn't put the loss on Mason that was a bad interception he threw in the endzone, Pickens fumbled and they were on the road against Josh Allen.

Roethlisberger was a game manager under Cowher, he flourished and became a top 10 QB under Tomlin .

The son of the New York Jets Owner though said tanking is very effective!!

Everyone should do it because the New York Jets are a sterling, cornerstone NFL Franchise!!

Those who think Roethlisberger was a game manager in 2004 and 2005 because of his low passing attempts know nothing... Ben was also fifth in passing rating in 2004 and third in 2005.Name me 10 QB better that Ben in those years

Not many game managers can make the plays Ben made in this video when he was a rookie.
