What none of us know is what happened behind the scene. For the FO, or more importantly Tomlin, to give up on Pickens speaks loudly. When a coach who many say is one of the best to deal with the ego and personality of players walks away then maybe it’s the best decision for the team

Yep. Last game of the season in '03 vs Ravens was lost in OT. Steelers tried like hell to win that game. I remember it.

They were probably worried about how he would react this season knowing he wasn't going to get a long term deal.

They weren’t looking to trade Pickens they were looking to extend him

Apparently that turned to crap so they got what they could

And as you stated we are where we were last year

I’m guessing it happened during negotiations and he became Harris.2 and talked himself right off the team

I'm patient... but we've had coach Popcorn for about 7 years too long. It's time to move on.

They took calls during the draft for Pickens; Dallas highest offer was only a 4th rd pick after the draft Dallas upped their offer.

I'm not impatient I lived through the years of 1980-2005 of not winning any Super Bowls.

Steelers won a lot of playoff games and appeared in many conference championships from 1980-2004. Can't say that about the past 8 years.

I have also seen other people mention the Steelers should try and trade for one of the Green Bay receivers.

I prefer to keep all the draft picks for the 2026 draft instead of wasting a draft pick on a rental.I hope Tomlin and Khan know this isn't a win now team.

And what if they trade for a receiver that has more than one year left on his contract, the only receivers signed beyond 2025 is Metcalf and Wilson. If they trade for a WR they will likely give up a mid round pick.

I believe Doubs is on his last year of his rookie deal.If this is not a rental, why not but if this is for a rental, keep your draft pick!

Who's to say they won't try and reach an extension with a player before the season.

If they accept the trade, the player must also have an extension with it, similar to what the Steelers did with the receiver they acquired from Seattle, so I think we agree that it must not be just for a rental...Of course this is a different story if this is for a 5-6 round pick

Not the same they knew they wanted Metcalf to be WR1, any guy they trade for is going to be WR2 or WR3. If they like him they can try to sign him to an extension in training camp.

Just my opinion...I don't want the steelers to trade draft pick just for a rental
