I have read alot of negativity about the steelers front offfice lately and i really dont understand it so i would like to ask a simple question. Do you have faith in the front office? You dont have to go into alot of detail. I personally do so i was just going to ask

Yes. If they had brought back Wallace and Mendy I would've said no. They picked AB over Wallace and I think that was the right decision. They also got rid of BA apparently and I was in favor of that as well. So I do have faith in them. However I do wish they would stop drafting guys with character issues.

Absolutely. I don't know how you don't have faith in a FO that has gotten you to 3 SB in the last 10 years winning 2 of them. There are teams that have never been to any. I think there are a lot of unrealistic expectations out there and a lot of the grass is greener on the other side (see Ozzie). I don't think we are as bad off as some make us out to be and I see the Steelers operating the way they have for as long as I can remember. If you need flashy signings to be happy, then you will be miserable every Steeler off season. I will say that we can't afford to have a 2008 draft, you see the effects that is having and we definitely need some big hits in this one. I can forgive them for one lousy draft class though.

Absolutely! I always have faith in them. But in the same sense I do have some concerns. The Bengals are going to be tough to beat. They are loaded with Talent. The Rats will still be competitive but do have their personnel depleted a bit. The Clowns have a new owner who has been raised in the Rooney culture. The division is completely up for grabs. Ben needs weapons to put up more points against this division.

For the most part, yes. But they have been showing some chinks in the armor of late.

If thinking of the past yeah they did some great things but right now for some reason they failed with their crystal ball by getting in a cap jam and not planning ahead with all the people leaving for greener pastures and more money. The thing I am most upset with is a franchise QB doesn't come along very often and here they are with very few good and experienced receivers for Ben to throw to. Our offense is build around Ben and he doesn't have a lot to throw to and we don't have much at running back, what kind of planning is that. I mean the front office people are getting big money to make things happen but they failed in that part of it as far as I am concerned, I just hope they can come up with something in the draft at running back and receiver.........

YES in the Rooney's I trust! If the front office isnt doing their job the family will take care of it. I do have confidence in the front office even though I sometimes disagree with them.

    Yep.
    Worried?
Yep... But have always trusted in our management, and always will..
There`s a reason no other team has as many Lombardi`s as we do!!!
    Are they infallible/perfect?
    No.
If they were, we would have even MORE trophies...
But, I STILL believe they are better than any other F.O./Owners in the league...
    GO STEELERS!!:steelflag:

Edit... And at what point do you start to put it on the players, or the injuries to the players, that they couldn`t have forseen?
Kinda like we argue about our coaches...

Everyone knows that the cap situation was created by trying to keep a SB roster together, I have no problem with that and as for Wallace and Mendy, the Steelers really would have needed crystal balls to foresee that train wreck, don't know how they are blamed for that. Even if they had the cap space should they have paid Wallace what the Dolphins did? And how could they have known that Mendy would turn into a fruit cake.

I have faith, but it is declining due to our suspect drafts as of late, the decision to overpay declining veterans, the hiring of Haley and Rooney letting the fans make the decision to let Arians go.

Not enough to go on with the recent change in Roonys at the helm. Time will surely tell. The game is changing fast and the wise owner will adapt. Example: This crown of the helmet rule is going to change the game completely to a smaller faster game I think.

I've got faith in the FO.

It takes time to re-build after being as successful as we have been in recent years.

Not to mention some of the coaching changes and departures of our veterans.

We'll be fine, we just need a bit more time.

I do have faith in the Rooney's There good, honest, hard working people.
I think their FO is lazy and does not try to aquire/search out talent/deals. Or if there talent evaluaters
are the best that is out there. Nobody expects big FA signings but we can hope when we have players
leaving for more money that the players behind them are capable of stepping up and able to play at a high level.
I also have a problem with player development, not only the speed of getting players a chance to play but there overall
LONG TERM development of players. I think they will have to accelerate this process this year. You can't miss on
a whole draft class like they did and expect to keep running like nothing happens. We can do better, we must do better
to compete against the Denvers,SF,Seattles,Atlanta,NE, Houstons, GB, of the world.

I definitely have faith in them. Like another poster or two mentioned, our cap situation right now is a product of keeping a championship nucleus together. I firmly believe that it would have paid even more dividends had it not been for injuries. I've seen people on this board say that we've had 2 consecutive down years. 2012 sucked, I'll grant you that. However, 2011 was pretty close to a big year. We were 12-4, and 1 win away from having home field advantage throughout the playoffs. We dominated the Patriots, who eventually represented the AFC in the SB. We did all that with a pretty significant impact from injuries - easily the most injuries of any contender. In the loss to Denver, the injuries bloomed to ridiculous proportions - if I recall we had something like 10 of our 22 starters out by the 4th quarter of that game, and our QB playing on a very badly injured ankle. I know that the team and coaches will not use injuries as an excuse (the standard is the standard, next man up, etc), but injuries clearly defined that season. Last season we were well in the mix until Ben's injury, and I'm pretty sure that he was playing at way less than 100% arm strength/control when he came back.

This is a front office that has proven time and time again that it knows what it's doing, and yet after every down year I see the same criticism. I will admit, someone calling them "lazy" is a new one, and I'm certain that's not the case. They have a plan, and they are going to stick with it and not suddenly react and say "wait - this guy is available, let's scrap our plan and start over." While I don't agree with every non-move, I understand why it's important to stick to a well thought out plan once it's been agreed to by everyone in the organization, and I'm pretty sure that's what's going on.

I will agree with one of the negative comments though - player development is a bit of a question mark, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. We've seen the same tune over and over. Young guys don't get reps in LeBeau's scheme, and I do think that's becoming a problem under the new CBA where players become unrestricted free agents in 4 years instead of 6 years. Under the old CBA we had the luxury of developing players a bit more slowly. We don't have that anymore. If we're going to retain the complex scheming, and I think we should, we have to draft more cerebral players. That may mean taking a guy like John Simon in the 2nd instead of taking guys like Jason Worilds, who wasn't known as a film room junkie coming out of school. It may also explain why we passed on McClain. It may mean taking Minter or Vaccaro in the first, both of whom are regarded as very smart, savvy, adaptable players (of the two, I would lean toward Vaccaro - but Minter could be Farrior 2.0 - he's good).

Not to sidetrack the thread, but who among us has more confidence in our FO than the FO of the Rats or Pats?
