I don't think he was activated from IR until Week 18. If so, I don't really have an issue with them not playing him against the Bengals and in a playoff game - he missed most of training camp along with a huge chunk of the season.

Missing your rookie year sucks. I can see Woods as insurance - 1yr/$2M for a WR 4/5 makes sense - but am really hoping to see Wilson showing something in camp this summer.

Sounds like a double dose of cancer for the Browns between Johnson and Sanders.

Not the two I would've paired up, but Cleveland is going to be Cleveland, I guess.

I dont think he ever activated him but he was healthy and could have done so sooner.

He was healthy, but healthy and football readiness were two different things to be quite honest with you. When you're coming back from injury, you're essentially getting on a moving train is the analogy that I like to use. We talk about a guy that had very little NFL experience.Apr 1, 2025

He was working extremely hard in practice but a real avenue never presented itself, due to the misfortune of others or what have you, for him to contribute.

I know coaches aren't going to tell the whole story, but I don't have an issue taking what he said at face value.

To me it doesn't make much sense to activate him at all if you think he's busting and have extended his IR time past his recovery to health. Just shut him down for the season.

Roman Wilson will be a bust if he continues to get injured. Preparation was not an issue for him at Michigan. Calvin Austin III missed his entire Rookie Season and lots of people wrote him off after signing Allen Robinson. Calvin Austin III turned out pretty well.

Wilson just has to continue to improve; something I believe he can and will. Besides, Roman Wilson improving not only acts as good Robert Woods insurance should anything happen to him but also a potential replacement option for Calvin Austin III given how his Contract is up next season. The Steelers haven't extended him so he is likely gone.

Roman Wilson panning out will benefit both him and the team. Here is hoping that his injury plagued Rookie Season was the last of it.
