All tanking does is increase an NFL Teams chances of re selecting even higher. People tend to forget that the NFL is the Ultimate Team Sport for a reason. The NBA, NHL and MLB can allocate for tanking for those players have more autonomy than the NFL does. Due to the tremendous importance the NFL places on positions based on team work as opposed to positions based on individual performance, tanking for a Player in the NFL is a very risky proposition.

For every Peyton Manning, there are more Jameis Winston's, JaMarcus Russell's and Jeff George's.

NFL Network had a show last night on the 1974 draft. The Steelers brass was in a big conflict about whether to take Swann or Stallworth in the first while they were on the clock. The Cowboys who picked right after the Steelers saw that the Steelers time was ready to expire and wrote down Lynn Swann on their card and rushed it up to Pete Rozelle. Finally with 5 seconds left the Steelers turn in the card with Swann as the choice. 6 seconds later and Swann would have been a Cowboy. The Cowboys then on the clock drafted Charlie Young a RB from NC State who was a total bust and out of the league in 3 years.

I'm not expecting the Steelers to get into the top 5, there could be teams in the top 10 next year that aren't looking to draft a QB.

Doesn't mean they would. They didn't even take a Qb with their 1st pick.

I really wish some people would lookup the combined value of our 2026 comp picks. That way they could get the fact that trading ALL 4 picks aren't going to move us up very much. The lower we pick the more they can move us.

right now the best use of those picks is to hold them so we have somewhat of a draft after trading up for a QB

It is early and a lot can and will change. If we are trading up in 2026 bey happy with a 3, two 4, 5, and 6th round picks. there are already two teams with two 1st round picks. That is what we are already competing with for next year.

Our biggest threat to trading up in 2026 are the holes on the team now and the holes that will be there for 2026. FA was a BIG miss this year with the CB's that were available and sitting on a boat load of cap. Yes the comp picks are nice, I'd gladly lose those picks to have signed Reed, AND Hobbs to round out the CB room for years to come.

Two top notch, still younger MAN CB's that fit our D to a tee! 30 mil a year for both, and lose those picks. Yeah I'm buying Definitely after this draft. Clearly before this draft even took place.

It has taken myself quite some time to admit that our ageing stars SB has closed, but clearly it has.If the teams true intentions were to shoot for a SB the the CB moves should have been made The draft plan stuck to, which worked to perfection this year again, and then hope ti all came together to produce a top 3-5 "D" and miracle #3 Rudy or late round Drafted QB caught lightning in a bottle.

Sad but that is the team we are. Take a real look at what our 2026 roster will look like for 2026, with the risks we have for holes for 2025, and tell me how e trade up for a QB in 2026, AND fill the bigger holes that will be there in 2026.

I love where we are going, and the players we've picked the last three years now. But there is still lots of work to do, and them some. Maybe we just HAMMER the 2026 FA class to have hopes of competing quicker, and I can't even know what that FA class has to offer. What I DO know is we missed out on a really nice class of CB's this year. 20 a year for a proven Cb is going to be on the low end by time those CB contracts are finished the way the cap will be STILL exploading the nect couple of years.

The reason you didn't hear it, is you're probably not a day trader or you might not even get into the stocks. It also was figured out to be false within about ten minutes. Hence why it rebounded great.
The other reason you probably did not hear it is because there's so many major news stories going on daily. Planes going down, plane doors coming off, trains derailing every other day, stupid politics, Israel and Gaza, etc.

I said likely and before the 2004 draft, the gap between the big 3(Eli,Rivers and Ben) vs Losman was very big,so the odds that the Bills take Ben would been very high

Do teams actually follow that or is it more for fans? Like I always felt the Steelers didnt pay very much to move up for Bush compared to what other teams have given up. Basically cost them a 2nd and 3rd (I think thats what it was) because they only swapped firsts. I know some fans like to say that move cost them a first, no it didnt, they just swapped picks.

It always depend on the quality of the prospect and also the position....The cost will be higher if this is for the QB since the other teams know that too

I'm not worried about the Browns and Rams having two first round picks, next year there could be 6-8 QBs go in the first round. The Steelers will have enough draft picks to move into the top 10 including the comp picks and their 2027 first round pick.
