It's going to get harder for guys who are position specific or who are tweeners to stay with the team since Tomlin has a chubby for subpackage football, rather than base 3-4. I'm sure ppl will get on here talking about Loudermilk and Leal but how does one progress when you are playing 3-4 DE. A two DL subpackage, or as a 3-4 edge rusher who doesn't fit an OLB role. I mean beyond football players what are they.

Leal and Louder2%milk were wasted picks.

Some were banging the drum for a Big Snack type all the while this defense only played the base package 25.6% of the time last season.

Hate to see Adams go. He was a nice player for us, and a great grab off someone's practice squad a few years back. With the added players in the middle in the draft this does make a lot of sense though. We're getting younger at the position and he is the odd man out.

I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Hate to see that happen to a young player.

Regarding Montravius, no surprise. Yahya Black's selection sealed his fate in Pittsburgh. Both Karl Dunbar and Teryl Austin can talk about Black being a DE all they want; Benton will force their hand as he is much better suited to being the 5 Tech.

Black will catch on in time. Just have him play NT and be a run stuffer while doing so.

Of the two, I am placing my bets on Loudermilk in all honesty. He has shown he can stay healthy and contribute somewhat. That said, I also don't see him beating out either Logan Lee or Yahya Black for those coveted depth IDL spots myself either.

The timing of Adams release is interesting. There wasn't really a need for the roster spot yet. We could've kept him through the preseason as insurance against injuries. I'm guessing we released him to give him a better chance of latching on elsewhere? If so, it's a pretty high character thing to do for him.

Drives me nuts hearing about how they want to get back to stuffing the run but yet they will put the 2DL subpackage out there and leave a gap from guard to guard.
