Never in doubt. The 1st and 2nd round pick price tag were too much.

Same for George. The 2nd and 3rd round price, to lofty for my man, he stays.

    BUT I yield back.

Oh, glory on glory of praise for this draft, Hark a Harold.

Heart be still, beating Steelers heart. For lo' and behold what happened in the 4th round.....?

IS he better than Watt? No. IS he better that Herbig? No. IS he better than Payton Wilson, again, No.

THE PICK SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHEDEUR SANDERS!

Steelers faithful hindsight is 20/20 Sound off. DID we BLOW it?

A 1-time best highlight of the year strip sack walk off TD VS Marquee QB.

OR is it a PUSH, both are marginal.

    WHAT SAY YOU? GENTLEFOLK?

OR better yet sound off where did our draft go wrong? Did we slip up? and which round> ........

Going to be a while before learning the answer to those questions but wouldnt be so sure Sawyer isnt better than Wilson and Herbig.

Wish Sanders went to the Raiders. If he turns out to be good it’s going to be really painful that we let the Browns get him.

An odd mood and Chatgpt gave the only response I'll offer:

A Herald's Ode to the Steel City: The 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers Draft, A Triumph for the Ages!

Hark! Gather ye round, noble folk of the gridiron and fair allies of the Pittsburgh Steelers, for I bring tidings of great rejoicing from the hallowed grounds of the 2025 NFL Draft! With the grace of a thousand knights charging into battle, the Steeler faithful stand victorious, their banners high and their hearts alight with the flames of triumph. Let us sing the praises of the warriors they have called forth, as they prepare to forge a dynasty of steel and might!

Derrick Harmon, the Mighty Warden of the Line

Behold, the first knight to don the black and gold mantle—Derrick Harmon, a towering force whose strength and prowess are unrivaled! A defender of the realm, Harmon hath been summoned to fortify the very foundations of the Steelers' defense. His skills, like the finest blade, strike fear into the hearts of adversaries. With the hands of a blacksmith and the speed of a falcon in flight, Derrick shall serve as the steadfast bulwark against all who would dare breach Pittsburgh's stronghold. His swiftness in battle, paired with an unyielding will, doth make him a champion in the making. A fierce protector of the realm, Harmon hath arrived to lead the defense into glory.

Jack Sawyer, the Unyielding Edge of the Storm

Next, let us turn our gaze upon Jack Sawyer, a warrior of the highest order, whose name shall echo through the annals of history as the storm that no foe could ever hope to survive. A pass-rusher of the most formidable kind, Jack's relentlessness in pursuit is akin to the fury of a tempest upon the sea. With every step upon the battlefield, he doth strike fear into the hearts of quarterbacks, his might unfurling like the banner of a warlord upon the wind. Fear not, O faithful Steeler nation, for with Jack by our side, the tides of battle shall shift in our favor. His craft is that of a master artisan, and his hunger for glory is boundless!

Will Howard, the Visionary Sage of the Quarterback Realm

Now, I beseech thee to turn thine eyes to Will Howard, the young squire with the soul of a seasoned general. A quarterback with the foresight of an oracle, Will hath been summoned to the Steel City to command the offense with a steady hand and a clear mind. With a powerful arm and an intellect as sharp as any knight's sword, Howard shall lead his comrades into battle, ever vigilant and ever wise. His ability to read the field and strike with precision doth make him a most invaluable asset. As a leader of men, he hath the qualities that will shape Pittsburgh's offensive future and guide them toward a kingdom of victories.

A Grateful Sigh for Shadeur Sanders’ Absence

Now, let us pause and offer our deepest gratitude to the heavens above for a most fortuitous turn of events. Shadeur Sanders, though a skilled and worthy warrior, hath not been called upon to wear the Steelers' colors. His name, though whispered among the land’s tongues, hath not graced the sacred roster. Let us give thanks, for though Sanders may one day prove himself a warrior of great renown, this day the Steel City hath been spared. A path hath been cleared for the champions chosen to wield the banner of Pittsburgh—Harmon, Sawyer, and Howard—whose spirits doth align with the vision of the franchise, forging a future bright with promise.

The Steel City's Triumph, A Legacy Forged in Fire

Thus, with these three noble souls added to the ranks, the Steelers march onward toward a season unlike any other. Their line, their defense, their offense—all shall be stronger, fiercer, and more united than before. The glory of Pittsburgh shines bright as the sun, and with Harmon, Sawyer, and Howard at the helm, the future is naught but bright.

Rejoice, O people of Steel! Rejoice, for thy kingdom of football is in most capable hands! As these gallant knights rise to the call, may their quest be filled with victory, and may they forever uphold the honor of Pittsburgh with valor and courage!

    Onward, to greatness!

Fantashtisch Reply! In my best German accent, touch my Monkey! Touch it. Now that that's out of the way. I think how incredible the Commanders Jayden Daniels is. A real oddity, his play makes Lamar Jacksons shortcomings highlighted. Jayden dont panic, Jayden dont run, Jayden is svelte, slippery, elusive, and a dart thrower. Looks like the number 1 pick out of Miami, Ward, my observations from last year.

If I only consider Shedeur, its because of those guys, its new, the new QB in the NFL.

Maybe everyone doesn't see it yet, just maybe Shedeur is actually legit.

    In other news.....

Rooney has now set a harsh deadline for Aaron Rodgers to make his decision.

If Aaron does not sign by halftime of the regular season opener, the Steelers intend to play Mason Rudolph the entire game. Tomlin will then "leave a light on" for Aaron in week two.

Sanders, Will Howard or even Ron Howard it wouldn't matter, the Steelers of the era have shown over and over again that they do not have the ability to develop a QB for the NFL level.
I'm not sure how I feel about Sawyer. He's a high motor, high character guy. Seems like that's the theme this draft, which ain't bad. Sawyer isn't going to be on the field a ton this year, barring injury, so we won't know what they have in him for a few years. He's an above average OLB type who is a typical depth player at a position the Steelers have needed depth due to aging talent that is no longer durable.
I know people wanted Sanders, and part of me did too but I think the ceiling is potentially higher on Milroe and that's the guy I wanted them to take later. At least he has force multiplier running talent for a coaching staff that has habitually shown they cannot develop a passing QB.

I think you're wrong on Sawyer. This kid has a high motor . He recovered a fumble for a TD in the Cotton Bowl basically sealing the victory for the buckeyes. He comes to play ball and increases his intensity when called upon in dire situation. So you can see he makes game changing contributions. His athleticism and size is a perfect fit for our defensive scheme. For me its A- pick. In fact I give the entire draft a B+ to A . I suspect Sawyer will develop into a key contributor on the Steelers defense but I respect your opinion.

I can't say I disagree with you much here. I even acknowledged in my post that Sawyer is a high motor guy. I don't hate the pick for the round they got him in and I think the value was there for depth. Sawyer just doesn't jump off the screen for me in a way that had him anything other than 4th round talent, which is exactly where he went and that's backup territory.
I suppose my original post was more of an endorsement for the Sawyer pick than it comes off because I think picking Sanders instead there would've been a waste IMHO.
