Farmer would have been a much better pick.

 

Jack Sawyer is a 3-4 OLB. Will be an immediate upgrade from Nick Herbig in the run game.

WOW, can you imagine being stuck in the Green room at the draft all by yourself until Day 3?

 

Steelers may get 2 of the 35, maybe 3.

 

Sawyer has the prototype size the Steelers look for in an OLB and he’s a gamer. Even if his upside is Chickillo that’s a good use of a 4th-rounder

If the Steelers can get Yahya Black, I'd be a very happy man.


Given how CJ West is gone, Black is the best remaining option.

 

My guess is they liked a few of the DTs left on the board and really liked Sawyer's fit, so they wanted him first.

 

Yeah, I had high hopes for Herbig, but he has trouble getting separation. I agree with others that I would like to have seen another D-lineman, but I like what I saw out of Sawyer at OSU last year.

 

Personally I would've liked Farmer, Riley, or Royals equally as well there.

 

I think so. There were a couple times last year that Watt, Highsmith, and Herbig were all dinged up at the same time

 

It's not a 'need' till Watt or Highsmith goes down. He was good value.

 

Rest assured, if the Steelers had only one pick in a draft it would be a LB.

Only 1 QB that's worth anything in the QB room at the moment at the league's most impactful position. They have 3 OLBs right now that are pretty good.

I don't dislike the player. They needed something else here imo.

 

Yes there were other positions of need but Sawyer was the best player on the board.

 

With drafting Sawyer, does this mean that we may be near to the end of TJ's career here?
