That would only be for one season. They could have sat Sanders for a year, then let him compete for the job in year two.

The Steelers have -lefty of cap space and need to spend to remain compliant. Remember something like 97% of the cap has to be spent over the course of 3 years

5 million is not much. Yes it places him at 17, but we are talking a low number. Few contracts back and you're in the 4 million average per year.

It seems pretty clear to me that nfl teams don’t think much of Sanders.

You think once we A) sign a qb B) resign Watt, and C) extend Pickens we wont meet the 97% goal?

I don't know what You guys see in Sanders. The NFL is showing that nobody is impressed with him.

Or just poor drafting because Johnson isnt starting over Warren. QB much bigger need there. Could have gotten a RB later or turned to one of the many FA RBs still available.

    Agreed.

I keep saying we are not one player away. We are several players away.

Matt Williamson said that when Johnson faced a 'lite" box(7 guys or less) he averaged almost 10 yards a carry. Everybody stacked the box against them because they don't throw the ball. They ran more than twice as much as they threw.

No not if a Qb was a real thing, but the whole NFL is showing what they think of Sanders. They think his a backup, and a backup with a bad attitude. Don't go by what people say, go by their actions, and the while NFLs actions are saying something

Yeah if you draft Sanders then that means you probably don't draft a QB next year. You're handcuffed to keeping him for a couple of years.

I try not to disagree with you, Blast. But there's better than a 50/50 chance Sanders/Milroe will be available at our round 4 pick. Wouldn't have believed it 24 hours ago, but that's the reality of the situation.

At least Johnson is going to play this season, Sanders wouldn't help them this year they can get a developmental QB later on. Who is left that is a better RB than Johnson?

Doesn’t mean anything until plays. Then we’ll see if they were right or wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Johnson get most of the carries that went to Harris in 2024.
