The steelers need to trade Pickens if they want a second round draft pick.....

Bad first half of season at Oklahoma, than transferred to SC.
I see a lot of Big Ben traits in him. Not a run first qb, keeps his head up looking downfield, good arm and can improvise.
    Saints love him

I wouldn't complain about any DL or OL in the 3rd. Please....no QB.

Sanders and Shough will be gone, but I could see them taking Milroe or Howard in the third. I wouldn't love it, but it wouldn't be disastrous.

Of course, they have that big hole to fill at running back, so maybe that is the pick there.

I really like Harmon, but I also really like Darius Alexander and Omar Norman Lott as impact DTs who are day 2 picks, so I'd have taken one of those sweet deals and moved into the 2nd.

There is so much value on day 2 and early day 3 this year, especially at the RB and DL positions.. they need some picks to take advantage of it. They also need to take a QB swing every year till they hit one

Though not urgently so, I think the Raiders will still be in the market - the third year of Smith's extension, his age-37 year, is pure base salary. So a high-ceiling developmental guy that could be Geno's understudy for a two years.

Others I would say are still in the market: Seattle, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Jets, Miami, and the Rams.

Fair enough. I think Howard at best is a game managing QB. I am NOT against him but picking him in round 2 is like Pickett in round 1, a BIG reach. Now, if they say draft an RB and DB in rounds 3 and 4, and Howard there in round 5 (maybe round 4), cool, solid value there.

They have to draft A QB, by round 4 or 5, Howard may be the best available. I view him alot like I viewed Rudolph when they drafted him, not much upside. Probably capable of starting in the NFL, but not likely average or above average QB. Howard in round 2 or 3, not a fan. Howard in round 4 or 5, perfectly acceptable. There are 3 or 4 other QBs on the board right now I'd MUCH rather have. If the all go before the Steelers round 4 pick, then Howard might make sense there.

I agree on DL depth in this draft. I would have LOVED to have traded back 6 or 8 spots, gained a round 2 and round 4 pick and sent back a round 5 pick.

That said, Harmon has serious upside and lots to like. Any DL they got in round 2 would lack some of that upside, but still be a viable starting DT/DE.

They need an RB, but I would NOT be disappointed if they doubled-down on DT or DE in round 3 or 4. While Heyward is there, he can rub off on these young guys and we all know Heyward is a confident, respectable, solid man AND DL. One or two years under Heyward cannot be a bad thing.

Is that the message you want to send to the guy you just signed instead of drafting players to help win now? Cant see it. Just my opinion but don’t think Raiders or Seattle are looking this draft.

If you are drafting Sanders it’s to start him. Try to ride him on the pine and then I can see Dieon making waves :lolol:

Well stated! Many liked Grant “just a bit more” BUT, Harmon fits into the 3/4 better and Fit matters! When we say “he’s a Steeler” with Harmon, it’s not just cliche. He’s A Steeler.

I think even other teams know/knew it. There’s just an understanding.

    Your post is Spot On!

Wouldn't you maximize your earnings by being a Browns fan then? ;)

Nothing wrong with cleaning toilets. Someone’s got to do it which makes it an honorable profession. Where would we be without the electricians, carpenters, and plumbers of the world? Too nasty to even ponder!
    Haha, Carry on…

Then they would be back in the same position as they were last season with only one WR for defenses to focus on.

Why why would they trade him just to get a 2nd round draft pick. Look at it this way. With the 2nd pick of the 2025 draft, the Steelers selected DK Metcalf. Is there a better talent in the 2nd round than that?

Trading Pickens makes 0 sense to me. DK and JP will make for a hard duo to cover. Trading JP hurts our offense, it doesn't help it.

You are both right but If the Steelers don't think Pickens will sign an extension with us, it's better to trade him than have all the drama during training camp. The best option is to sign him to an extension, but if the Steelers can't, I don't think the Steelers will be drama-free in this situation.

I know the Steelers can franchise tag him after this year, but will Pickens agree to play in 2025 with his rookie contract?

    I have serious doubts.

Lol, that'd make for good times.

But no, I said not urgently. They're like the Rams, looking for somebody a couple of years out. So I'm more talking about a Milroe sliding to the 3rd or 4th, maybe Howard in the 4th/5th, Ewers on Day 3.

No Sanders or Shough for a team in their situation. As for their interest past that, it's like we've said about the Steelers - if they feel somebody is special and that's their guy (for their situation), they make the pick. If not, they go elsewhere. They're not going to force it.

I'd probably say Giants with Browns second, but yeah. They finally found a team dumber than they are to trade with.

As for teams that may or may not (for you, Blast ;) ) be looking for a QB tonight, here's a current bird's eye view of the picks:

    Cleveland - 33, 67
    Raiders - 37, 68
    Saints - 40, 71
    Jets - 42, 73
    Colts - 45, 80
    Seahawks - 50, 52, 82
    Us - 83
    Rams - 90, 101

If I were to rank the need/urgency/desire to find one this draft

    1. Us
    2. Saints
    3. Jets
    4. Cleveland
    5. Colts
    6. Seahawks
    7. Raiders
    8. Rams
