I'm pretty much in on Damien Martinez here. Still chewing over the possibility of RJ Harvey, but Martinez compliments the room better and is 2.5 years younger. He had some good looking tape the second half of the season. I've read rumors he played his way down from 235 lbs to 217 by the end of the season. So that could account for the slow start.

For some reason I thought Martinez was already picked.

    Damien Martinez for me

Damien Martinez, RB, University of Miami
    _____________________________________

Martinez look really good the second half of last year in Miami's RPO-based version of the Air Raid. But he did well in Oregon State's zone-based running scheme the previous year as well - a system more similar to what Smith's have been in the past. On every-touch tape he shows good vision and burst through the first level, with some wiggle in the second. He also runs angry, often dragging would-be tacklers 3-4 yards a la Harris.

Like I said above, his weight transition through last year makes me wonder if the 215-220 range is best for him going forward, as his stats last year showed marked improvement after the halfway point. Looking at more of Harvey's film, I'm not confident his propensity of bouncing to the outside will translate well at the next level - even though he offers better speed.

Damn, what I really wanted here was a 2025 swing tackle that could someday develop into a starting OG, if both Jones and Fautanu pan out and play well.

But not seeing what I like still on the board, I will go with RB Damien Martinez

    I’ll cast my vote for:

    O’Donnell Fortune, CB, South Carolina

He’s adept at playing both man and zone. Generating 42.0 passer rating while in zone with a PBU and 2 Int’s and when playing man he had a passer rating of 73.4 with a PBU and Int.

Not a fan of Martinez. I think Bhayshul Tuten is much better value here. The guy is dynamic. We can sign a number of veterans that would give us similar production to Martinez.

Tuten has special abilities. Martinez is just a guy to take up a roster spot.

Yeah if this is what is available in the real draft and they still haven’t taken a RB then I think they would just sign one of the FA still looking for a team.

I read a scouting report that said Tuten had bad ball security issues

Not speaking to what the FO would do, but I personally think there is still some good talent here. Harvey, Tuten (if you think you can cure the fumblitis), Martinez, Neal, Etienne to name a few. This is a deep RB class.

With a full slate of draft picks I would agree with you but given how things stand now I just dont really see what they gain by one of those guys over a FA. This is also based on my believing Warren will be the starter.

    Jeantry
    Hampton
    Henderson
    Judkins
    Skattebo
    Gordon
    Sampson

Off the top of my head, I’m sure I’m forgetting some of the other top guys but if they aren’t getting one of these guys I would turn to free agency.

While I hope he does well, I'm not ready to put all of my eggs in Warren's basket yet, and want someone better than Gainwell behind him. I think you're missing some of the talent/potential there in top 15 (especially if you're listing Gordon II in your top seven ;) ).

If you broke out the tiers, they look something like this:

    Jeantry
    Hampton
    Henderson

    Johnson
    Judkins
    Sampson

    Skattebo
    Martinez
    Tuten
    Etienne
    Harvey
    Gordon II
    James
    Giddens
    Neal

Once you get past the top four or five things tighten up and you can make a case for a lot of those guys being the next best option.

Not an Ollie fan huh? I think he can be what they were hoping Najee would be. I also think people are making too much of 2024 and overlooking his 2023 campaign. 24 he was battling injuries a bad Oline and poor QB play. He showed out at the Senior Bowl.

He could slide right into the 1-2 punch they had with Najee only better.

Oh and I’d move Skattebo up to 4 and Judkins 5 and slide Johnson and Sampson down

I was an Ollie Gordon fan until I watched him run a 4.61 40 yard dash at the Combine. I don't want another plodder at the RB position like Najee was.

Actually I think even Najee ran a faster 40 than that. Didnt know Ollie only ran a 4.61 but he looks faster than that.

Look at 6:40 mark. He’s not as fast as the guy breaking down the film makes him out to be but he plays faster than 4.61. He plays a lot like Najee but with better vision and lateral agility I feel.
