whomever can learn from arth the best. who can be re-signable at the end of the rookie deal. don't screw over rudolph again because i think he falls into this category.

shough has an age thing but i wouldn't be against it. if so i would like to see 2 signed. mccord i think fits the bill. howard would fit in with this group. ewers if these guys are gone.

then i want a late guy or UDFA to hope for the brock purdy effect. henigan is one. jt daniels. cook. card. bachmeier. just give the team some consistency to work with.

i'm not looking for an immediate terry bradshaw or ben in year one but start the process. there will be other drafts if needed. these guys will give them a starting point. they have all won a lot of games. none are perfect even the top of the chart but all are solid and i think can continue to get to where we need them to be. that's all i'm looking for.

If you are wanting to know....

Mel Kiper has Shedeur Sanders as the top-rated QB in this year's draft class and ranked Sanders as the overall 5th best player in the draft.

"Think about his toughness, right?" said Kiper. "How bout the fact that he had no running game? Omarion Hampton and Ashton Jeanty had more rushing yards in two games than their leading rusher had the whole year. So he didn't have the benefit of a running game. He did not benefit from an offensive line that could block anybody... and he's accurate and he's precise. Everything everybody wants. Decision making, accuracy, toughness, he has."

I am warming up to Howard or McCord in the mid rounds, and taking DL (Harmon) in the first.
I still believe in Dart if he is available in round 1.

I think that Rogers is in play this coming year. Dart, Howard, McCord all would be good chemistry with Rogers and Mason in QB room. Shough probably will be taken before pick 83, I feel.

If Dart is there at pick 21 we can still get a good DL and running back in the mid rounds

If Mason Rudolph is the starter for the 2025 season we are doomed. I think that no matter who gets drafted or where, MR will be the starter to begin the season. The question is who will be the better QB to learn the offense and take over the starter role sooner. Whoever we draft I just want them ready to take over this offense by week 8. No low wonderlic scores please.

Ward and Sanders won't be available and Dart has the most upside of the QB's that are left but he is only 21 years old and it would be tough to throw a kid into the lineup. If we do go with Rudolph to start the season and after the inevitable 1-5 start then probably the best option would be Tyler Shough as a mid round pick. Shough has played 7 years of college football and turns 26 this season. He has more experience playing the position than any other QB coming out. Heck he has been in college so long that he was Justin Herbert's backup his first 2 years.

It's a contract business, usually 4 years, called the window. It's not one year business.

I convinced Rodgers is not coming and Rudolph is our starter. Lets see Mike get 9 wins with this team.

Why wouldnt he be able to? Already did it with a combination of Pickett/Trubisky/Rudolph and Rudolph was the best of the three.

Question: If this trade does happen would DK Metcalf get to go back to wearing #14 like he has done his entire Pro and College career??? Anyone buying those #4 Jerseys now?

DK is still rolling with the DK14 on social media.

It`s coming down the road, I can see it . For the 2026 season Tomlin will want Watson as QB after Browns release him. And the scary thing is GM Kahn will do it.

The only person who calls it a window is you

The average NFL career is 3.3 years so that implodes your 4 year nonsense

Well that pretty well should clear up your confusion

None the less the Steelers did give Mason 4 years you can find that fact here

    Correct

But I bet someone will still try to disagree rather than admitting to being wrong on Pickett

I have thus far only had a chance to watch a lot of film on 4 guys: Sanders, Dart, Milroe and McCord.

I would seriously consider Dart at #21, but it would be a pick for 2026 and beyond. I think he has really solid long term potential. The end of the FL games makes me a bit nervous though.

I still have trouble getting a feel for what Sanders can be because he just had so little blocking at Colorado. I think he’s a high floor, low ceiling average starting QB day 1 with limited upside beyond that.

I like McCord as an option in the 3rd, but I could see the Steelers passing on him because he puts the ball in harms way too much. Definitely a gunslinger mentality.

Milroe need a LOT of development. If we take him, I will root for him to learn and develop for us, but I won’t have a lot of optimism.

I am going to try hard to find time to watch more Shough and Howard before the draft.

With you on Dart and Sanders. Milroe, as well. Dart's a lot easier for me if they still had a second round pick. (Still wouldn't be surprised if they moved Pickens.)

Haven't watched much of McCord. Coming around on Howard, but still like Dart and Shough better. Shough mixes in elements of Sanders and Dart for me.

I saw a clip of Howard's pro day and there wasn't a single dropped pass, the only dropped passes were like 2 35 plus yard bombs, his pro day changed my evaluation of him, my only complaint w the pro day was that there were too many short easy throws, like he was trying to stuff his completion percentage, but other than that I was impressed wld draft him if other options are taken

I’m not swayed in a positive direction by pro days. They’re scripted and rehearsed. I’ve seen some QBs ball out at their pro days and not be quality QBs in the NFL. I do think there’s a little bit to be gleaned from the throwing at the combine because the QBs have to adjust their throwing to different speeds and depths of breaks, etc. of receivers they’ve never thrown to. Dart was dead on for the entire combine despite all of that unfamiliarity. That makes me think he’ll be able to adjust in real time when his receivers have timing thrown off by jams at the LOS. Howard really struggled. It doesn’t mean that Howard can’t be a good pro, but I was hoping he would look like a more natural thrower.

That's the reason why I watched Howard's pro day, because combine was so.....
For me, I just want to see the guy throw, natural, and I saw what I needed to see from Howard, but I understand your opinion on pro days

I am ok with drafting Sheduer but not trading up for him. Would prefer they go DT though in round 1.

To be honest, if you don't draft a QB you're a fool. It is noted that this class isn't projected as HOF material, but let's all agree that drafting the QB position is basically like throwing dice.

With really only 1 QB in the room, you draft a damn QB this year. Lol

    And then next year.

Ben was a special dude. QBs don't grow on trees. If you talk to my brother, he'll tell you how dumb the Steelers were for letting Pickett go. In hindsight, he could be right. Of course I don't think Pickett will be that great either.

The arguable GOAT of QB was taken in the 6th round. Joe Montana was a 3rd round pick. It just shows the so called experts really have no clue when it comes to evaluating the QB position.

So you take a QB. Figure it out. You will miss more than you hit.

You have posted on this in pretty much the same aspect, and I mostly agree. The few guys who may rate a 1st round grade will likely be gone, those who may (in some circles) just have to many red flags in my book. Thay all have development flaws (which is expected), but the risk (with the other areas of need) is something you have to take into account. Few are going to truly make it, but do the diligence in scouting, make your pick and go from there. For me it's McCord, but the other two you mentioned are not off the radar. They usually take 4 QB's to camp, so grabbing another in the later rounds, or UDA is a possibility. It may suck in the end, but after Aaron's chat the other day I am even far less inclined to want him here. The team has to be able to make decisions, waiting on a guy to decide if he wants to play or not should not be an option at this point, go with what you have or get and develop, growing pains will be there, but you can't move forward in neutral.
