Who knew QB coach Tom Arth would be the Steelers inside guy for Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron says anyone saying he wants 30 or 40 million, or that he is asking for a multi-year deal is full of Bullsh!t. Money is not the issue and he will be happy to play for $10 million.

Said Willis would be an eventual starter, not out the gate. Knew he was a project. And he probably did turn out to be the best QB in the class ;)

Saying Sanders isn’t “remotely” ready to start suggests he is a project. You are smoking some potent stuff if you truly believe that!

Yeah, Sanders is probably the most NFL ready QB in this draft. But.. the more film I watch, the lower his ceiling looks to me. He’s just that limited physically.

I listened to that interview. It really sounds like he already has one foot in retirement. I think at the end of the day he is trying to figure out if he is up for the grind and the commitment of another NFL season. Of course he needs to believe on wether the Steeler have a chance to legitimately compete or not. I don’t understand why a HC would want him though. He seems like he is very hard headed and can be pretty demeaning towards people. Seems to like to challenge authority. Not sure if the disruption in waiting around for him is even worth it at this point.

Sanders is a worse version of Fields,,, if u want a runner with mid level arm strength, steelers would be better off with Gabrielle... Steelers better off drafting Howard late... I'm okay with Rudolph, but would like to see a Rodgers deal worked out...

I don't know why someone would compare Sanders to Fields; Sanders is not a runner, he stays inside the pocket and works his progressions.

Now if you had said Milroe is a worse version of Fields, I would have been 100% in agreement with that statement as far as NFL QB potential goes.

Sanders is pretty much the anti-Fields. I see no similarities whatsoever.

What are you talking about? Sanders is a pocket passer. He is smart and accurate. He throws with excellent touch, something Fields cannot do at all. They are very different quarterbacks.

It is funny. I think the Aaron Rodgers interview made everyone even more mad at him.

Yea, Sanders' game is not very compelling if you are looking for a guy that can generate explosive plays. Very high percentage of throws at or behind the line of scrimmage on early downs (thus his high comp %), i.e game manager. Also takes a lot of sacks and we know how that worked out with Wilson. He's got a high floor... if that floats your boat.

    Oh, and btw, on topic;

“I’m gonna take this offseason to evaluate, ....to consider all options, to consider health and family and things like that and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season—if there’s gonna be a next season.”

Does this sound like such a horrible thing?? Why the anger?

Sanders isn’t even the same type of Qb to Fields. He is more like a Brock Purdy or Kirk Cousins type.

Exactly. The anger should be directed at the Steelers for putting themselves in this situation. Rodgers owes us nothing and we owe him nothing. He said he completely understands if the Steelers can’t wait for him and move on. The only reason the Steelers are moving on is because there is no better option. I just hope this doesn’t force them to overarch on a QB in the first round.

At this point, it looks like they are targeting Manning next year draft with the #1 pick :)

I don't like either side of this equation. Rodgers is a self-centered, pretentious asshat. It's never about a single statement with him. His magic is layering a bunch of conflicting statements on top of each other, then shaming anyone questioning it as being a lesser mind.

That aside, I get where he's at. He's 41, has made more money than he'll ever know how to spend, had a HOF career. He still feels a yearning to play the game, but knows his last three years have been markedly below his norm. Coming back for one more year has to be worth it to him from a competitive standpoint. Of course has more off-the-field commitments and concerns now - he's 41. So to juggle that with the commitment it would take to return and go out on a high note might take more than a club perpetually stuck with 9-10 wins, hoping to claw their way to a wild card slot the final week of the season.

As for the Steelers, their actions make about as much sense as Rodgers' words. If squeezing that extra win or two out of Rodgers is so important, why did they handcuff themselves in free agency? Adding a few more pieces to build a better overall team (with or without Aaron) was easily within their grasp, but they sat on their thumbs. Like Rodgers, they come off as posturing.

I have to wonder if the Steelers offer is the $10 million that Rodgers spoke of playing for?

That is about half of what I was expecting the Steelers offer to be. I was thinking $20 million with another $10 million in incentives. And did Rodgers just screw up and commit himself to the $10 million number???
