As you have written it is the way it will likely get done, I do not mind it at all, it si the way we do things. My thought process is what I feel is wrong with the org. right now, 'expects to be in contention for the playoffs every year', and what has that garnered the team in the last 10 years? It was stated in a FSR talk show a couple of weeks back, that the way the Steelers build is to get to the next step, which is to win a play off game, if that statement is true, then the vision is terribly small, as is only being it contention for the po's. It has not worked in 10 years, being in contention for the po's, then getting bombed out in the first round over and over, so let's continue until we win a game?

Nothing changes when nothing is changed. I don't necessarily want to see TJ go, if the status quo is what is wanted then so be it, but at times you have to take risks.

maybe they are looking to trade the wrong guy. what has highsmith really done since his large contract? of course that doesn't give you a lot of trade value. in pops jack sawyer. herbig.

if you are going to trade watt you better have a plan for that draft pick. who exactly is that prospect? who is good enough for a team to make that big of a leap?

The LAR's strategy in the last decade has worked better than the Steelers'. Trade away first round picks, stack and draft solid 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounders, sign solid FAs.

IMO they're trying to both contend and re-tool at the same time, two acts that limit the other. You look at this offseason and the cap space they had, the splash they made with Metcalf, and you think they're going to add some good pieces in free agency... but they opt to protect their compensatory picks and sign only released/depth players.

A good franchise exercises control in its aggression, but also knows that straddling the bar 50/50 isn't practicable to winning a championship.

I'm not saying other opinions are wrong or unwelcome. I don't understand though, the opinion to trade away the better players on your team for draft capital, fire all of your coaches to hire "anybody would be better" to be the coaches.

I see this in baseball a lot. Can't pay/don't want to pay stars salaries so trade away for draft picks. Develop those draft picks into stars and repeat the process of trading them for more draft picks.

You see players from time to time that were once great franchise players that now sign one year deals, come in on specific game situations to make that one play. And they play this out for years. But those guys are not the norm. And you can't build a team with those guys.
Same goes for the aging veteran backup QB. These guys are there to fill in until you find your next franchise guy for the position.

In the case of Watt, he's not to the point of signing one year deals and only playing as a specialist. The drop off on defense when Watt is out proves his worth on this team. I don't understand at where he is now as a player, trading him in hopes of draft capital. Makes no sense to me.

Fun to talk about I guess.

Exactly. I get the suspicion that Tomlin and Omar aren’t on the same page. I think one wants to win now and one wants to build for the future. I believe Omar wants to do the right and practical thing but he is also trying to appease Tomlin right now. This team should have unloaded Watt, Minkah and Pickens this offseason and should have used the cap to build this team sensibly and foundational through free agency.

Its so hard to evaluate your own players when you have poor schemes and poor positional coaches. You can’t determine their true development like a Broderick Jones just as one example.

Unfortunately it looks like we are self destructing because Tomlin is being desperate and scared ie. over paying for Metcalf and overpaying for a one year rental with Rodgers because he thinks he can win now. All of that and the stupid Browns overpaying Garrett now has Watt pissed off. What a mess.

So it's a photo that TJ did NOT post himself?

And some of y'all actually took it as tj is leaving?

But then again some of y'all believed a browns beat writer about Pickens.

I guess I do not understand. Generally do splash signings in FA is not best way to build, and I can see why they have only done in sparsely. Then again, the other part of that equation needs to work, evidently what they do has not worked either in building a championship quality roster. So what's the answer? I'm not saying you get a dozen draft picks, with the chance of only a few making the roster, I am saying if it is not working, then you look internally. Right now the blind are leading the blind, This is not a rant on firing MT, it is a rant on the entire operational structure.
