Controversial, but Omar Khan and possibly Tomlin should be terminated if they fail to sign a QB

But skip over the other two...selective reading.... Now I understand why you are struggling with the reality of the situation.

How about this reality?; Wilson felt so threatened by Pickett in the QB room that he insisted that Tomlin guarantee he would be the starting QB before he would sign a contract.
So, a future HOF'r was worried he couldn't win a competition with the 35th ranked QB from 2023. C'mon, you can do better.

Notice my subsequent post. The reports were conflicting.

You are acting as if I am making this stuff up about Wilson wanting a guarantee he would start. Did you not pay attention at the time? It wasn't about Wilson feeling threatened. It was about a long-time NFL veteran feeling he shouldn't be asked to compete. He most likely saw that as beneath him. This isn't difficult. Come on. Do better.

I’ve never seen evidence that Wilson was guaranteed the starting position. You have always been pushing that narrative as a fact based on your own, personal logic. For example, Wilson met with the Steelers, then met with the Giants. When he left NY allegedly because they wouldn’t guarantee him a starting position and then took the job with Pittsburgh, you made the logic leap that Pittsburgh must have guaranteed him the starting job. I think it’s more likely that nobody offered him a guaranteed starting spot, and he took the best opportunity. Clearly Pittsburgh offered a better opportunity for him to win than the Giants, and I think the prospect of competing with KFP was probably favorable vs. Jones as well. Why would he choose the Giants?

I didn't make the logic leap. I heard it reported at the time, and it made sense for a number of reasons.

That said, there is not definitive proof either way, but I'm far from the only person here pushing a narrative they can't prove. The difference is that I am willing ot acknowledge it and some others are not.

Like I said, the Steelers did a good job selling a story and quite a few folks here were suckered into believing it!

Not gonna waste my time trying to prove something that doesn't exist.

OTOH, the simplest explanation is the most logical.
    • KP asked to be traded after he was told they would sign Wilson to compete for the QB1 position, end of story.
    • The media story of Wilson being guaranteed the starting job is just spin.
    • How is it that Pickett has never said anything to the effect that Wilson had a guarantee so that is why he left? "THE GUARANTEE" should have been Pickett's headline out Pittsburgh. And his agent would have been all over that story..."PICKETT WANTS OUT AFTER WILSON GUARANTEE!", but nary a word. Logic says because there was no guarantee. Instead, Pickett's story was a tepid "it was time for a change".
This conspiracy of a guarantee just doesn't hold up. In any case, the Steelers were smart to move on from a QB that wasn't very good, and trending in the wrong direction.

Nah, it’s common sense. He was handed the poles position and that was enough to make Kenny bolt. The pole position should have been Kennys based on his status but he clearly had lost Tomlins confidence. First being benched and then losing the poles position.

My explanation is every bit as simple and logical.
    • Pickett knew they were trying to sign Wilson for a while before he did sign. He had been in to meet with the Steelers about a week before the signing. Their attempts to bring in competition were not what led him to seek a trade.
    • The leaks to the media that made it look like Pickett didn't want to compete were just spin. Who do you think the media is going to be more interested in spinning for, the quarterback who is gone or the team they still have to deal with?
    • Your last point assumes Pickett would want to get in a war of words with the team. How would that benefit him? The guy is trying to rebuild his career after the team that drafted him gave up on him. Given the presence of Hurts, his next starting opportunity probably wasn't going to happen in Philadelphia, so how other teams view him going forward matters. Verbally attacking his former team would not help his cause.

Wilson was handed the starting position, leading Pickett to request a trade because he wasn't getting the opportunity to compete. That is common sense.

More and more I’m warming up to the idea of drafting Jaxson Dart and let him compete. If we want to kick the can down the road, I’m ok with Mason running the show

It’s laughable you believe that kooky conspiracy nonsense because you still have this thing where you need to protect Pickett.

It's laughable that you believe the leaks that came from the team to cover their failure because you feel the need to attack Pickett.

It's laughable that you refer to the notion that the Steelers had to guarantee Wilson the starting job to get him to sign as kooky.

How often do you see players taking direct shots at their former team after they leave? It is rare and it is not smart.

There was no reason for Pickett to leak details. Of course, the leaks came from the team. Try applying some critical thinking. Come on. Do better.

Y'all claim he was upset about them bringing in competition, but it was clear all along they were doing that. Something else happened to finally set him off.

Is there speculation in my take? Yes. Is there speculation in yours? Also yes.
