And we’re the team that brought the house to take him to dinner before his pro day… oh boy. If it happens I’ll need to console myself by watching some of his 2023 games. He showed potential as a running Qb in 2023, but really regressed last season.

I wouldn't love picking Milroe at all. I think he can run like Jalen Hurts and Justin Fields, but I think his passing will always be a liability in the league. He has to be Lamar level with his legs and hope we can develop him into a top 30 passer in the league.

You almost missed the point that for the last 2 years Manning sat the bench, because Qwen Ewers was the better QB in Texas.

If Manning was so great, why wasn't he a starting QB in college yet? Texas could have easily made Ewers jump in the portal is they believed Manning was better than Ewers last year. This is Texas football, they are not going to let a guy start just because he is a senior.

Crazy fans are ready to sell the farm on someone that hasn't been QB #1 since High School.

Whatever you may think about Ewers' future in the NFL, he finished 2023 with 3,500 yards passing, a 69% completion percentage, and 22 TDs over 6 INTs. There was talk of him declaring, but obviously he opted to return.

Meanwhile Manning started two games last year while Ewers was hurt, and completed over 69% of his throws for 800 yards, 8 TD, and 2 INT. He seems to be coming along just fine.

i worry about picking the one year wonders though. KP had one good year at pitt. ewers seemed to have plateaued in college. he's solid but leaves you wanting more from him. he as well as howard had a lot around him. i'd still take a flyer in the 7th or UDFA in hennigan. 4 pretty steady years from him. you need a 4th arm anyway even if they draft one of these QB's during preseason. this years brock purdy maybe.

Falling for that Malik Willis to the Steelers type of hype again, I'm not buying it.

Milroe has smaller hands than KP. Jalen 4 gloves?

Bradshaw sat on the bench for two years behind a guy who went on to make Duck calls

I don't think he has a very high ceiling or floor as a passer. He is a good runner. To work out he has to be dynamic as a runner and passable as a passer. I'm not so sure he gets there as a passer. There are a good number of other QB's that are better than Milroe. Would prefer we went a different route.

In no way do I want the Steelers to take a QB in round 1. I don’t care who’s available. Round 2 I would consider it depending on availability and who may have fallen for whatever reason. Round 3 I am seriously looking for a QB but not reaching for one that can be picked up later. Bottom line is we need a QB but have been burned too many times before. I expect Rudolph to be our opening day starter. They should not entertain Aaron Rodgers being our QB for the next season or two. That would just put back where we have been for the past several seasons.

Look more closely at those two games. He completed only 15 of 29 passes, throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions against Louisiana-Monroe. That is not impressive.

He had one dominant start, completing 26 of 31 passes for 325 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. That came against Mississippi State, which went 2-10.

Manning may have the talent, but he hasn't proven much of anything at the college level. He certainly hasn't done enough to justify all the talk of him going early in the first round next season. He may get there, but he isn't there yet based on the current resume.

Both of his QB uncles stayed in school the whole 4 years. I'm not sold he comes out next draft even if predicted to be #1 overall.

Ewers wasn't better. He was just older. Ewers was a good prospect in his own right, but we have seen it a hundred times, a far better, younger QB sitting for a couple of years. Trust me, Longhorns would have been better with Manning last year. Ewers was quite inconsistent, as he has been his entire career.

...and yes, Texas DID let a guy start just because he was older, not better.

well we need two more one way or another, and little jimmy is only a junior at mt.lebo HS at this point. who cares if it's a big show next year because the draft is in pittsburgh? that's the stupidest thing i ever heard. that is hopefully just fan speak. we need to draft one at some point in this draft whether mel kiper likes him or not. skylar isn't the future. i do have faith in mason for now. i think we could have done a lot worse. maybe finally he gets to show us why we spent a 3rd round pick on him 5 years ago. maybe he was right under our nose the whole time. that would be embarrassing for them.

No, Milroe is 9 3/8" (35 percentile for QB prospects), enough to grip ball without any serious trouble, and even pump fake without the ball slipping forward.

Kenny Pickett was 8 1/2" (1 percentile for QB prospects), smallest in a long time and same size as mine at 5'8". I can't fully grip an NFL ball, I kinda sorta can, but the slightest bump or slip (moisture on ball maybe) and it can pop loose on me. Now, if I partake in deflategate, I can comfortably grip the ball.

Per NFL.com prospects and Mockdraftable profiles:

    Jalen Milroe Measurable Measurement %tile
    Height 6' 1⅞" 24
    Weight 217 lbs 35
    Wingspan 76⅝" 65
    Arm Length 30⅝" 14
    Hand Size 9⅜" 35

    Kenny Pickett Measurable Measurement %tile
    Height 6' 3¼" 65
    Weight 217 lbs 35
    Wingspan 73¾" 13
    Arm Length 30⅞" 21
    Hand Size 8½" 1

Kenny Pickett...the T-Rex of NFL QBs. tiny hands and short arms. LOL. We need a GIF of that and one of those stank faces of Tomlin after realizing he made a truly awful first round picck that year.

I hope another team takes him before we pick in the 3rd round. Now if we take him in the first then all hell will break loose around the Burgh.

I wasn't pushing that, just that in two starts he looked alright. I'm not as caught up in the hype around his name, so I just see him as a redshirt sophomore that got a couple of spot starts against a couple of weaker teams. Like B2S, I also think there's a good chance he goes four years, but either way I'm not looking for him to be throwing the football over mountains yet.

Financially he would be foolish to stay in college an extra year

Plus there is always the chance of injury

Due respect, why should we trust you on that? Do you have evidence to back up your claim that Ewers only started because he was older?

Manning has proven next to nothing nothing at the college level. That may change this fall, but people shouldn't assume.
