General 2025 draft talk

I never said he couldn't be better, but you just completely dimissed my comment and his existence as a football player, with no other explanation than 'Ewers has no pocket presence'. Like, beyond that, he has ZERO value whatsoever.

 

As the kids say he's mid, I have no interest in him looks to be a career backup.

 

Pretty much every QB coming out of college has flaws and things they have to get better at in order to succeed. Its just whether or not you think the flaws are fixable with coaching. Ben was a great rookie QB, but he wasn't a perfect QB as a rookie.

If we think Ewers can learn to read defenses pre snap and quickly post snap, then it won't matter if his pocket presence isn't great. The ball will be out already. That was literally Tom Brady's whole career. He wasn't great against the blitz because his improv skills were awesome. He was great against the blitz because the ball was always out before the rush could get there and to the exact right person. Every. Damn. Time.

I'm not saying Ewers is going to be Brady-like of course, but there are ways around every flaw. I'm not going to sit here and say he will never be a good NFL QB simply because his pocket presence isn't good when he's in his early 20's.

 

Those of you who were Xavier Restrepo fans, he may be available in the 4th or 5th. Ran a 4.83 40 at his pro day.

He has great hands and runs great routes but 4.83 would make him the slowest WR in the league.

 

I watched most Miami games this year and he always reminded me of Hines. Not tall, but thick. Not fast, but always open somehow. And catches everything.

I'd take him on my team anyday. He's a chain mover.

 

With that slow speed I wouldn't take him until the 7th.

Not bad though, 60 yards rolling to his left.

Apparently he started off strong with his deep ball, but threw three straight ducks at the end of his session. Maybe he got a little tired, he threw 60 passes in short order.

I'd still take a chance on him in the 5th or so.

They were saying on 93.7 the fan this morning that it looks like the Steelers are going to go for a DT in the first and Howard in the third round.

 

He is not bad, but I think we can get somebody a little faster w more explosiveness who is equally as strong, this years class is deep

 

Starting in the 3rd round there are still going to be very good backs left like you stated. Other than Scattebo there are Giddens, Tuten, Gordon, Mafa, Martinez and Sampson. Our RB room is too thin right now we need to draft one of these young guys to help carry the load.

 

Get Barron or Emmanwori to play up close to the LOS and take away those quick hitters that defeat our pass rush.
OR
Get Judkins AND Skattebo and make this offense a scoring freaking machine.

I read somewhere possibility of TJ trade to Titans for #1 pick ...Does anyone think this will happen or will we wait till draft is in Pittsburgh to do things like that. CURIOUS

 

they better get the O-Line right or it won't matter who is the QB, RB or WR. sure it would be nice to get a new shinney toy on the DL but unless your offense can stay on the field that won't really fix the problems with the team. i want the offense on the field more than the defense making plays. that is where we were inferior last year.

Apparently Restrepo said that his right hamstring tightened up during warmups before running his 40-yard dash, which “prohibited me to opening up and running my fastest.” He went on to say that he had been consistently running between 4.53 and 4.58 seconds for two weeks before Pro Day “and thought I could still pull it off.”

That's about what I was expecting from him actually(4.55 - 4.6).

Oof. Love Skattebo, but didn't see 4.6+/40 in the cards.

Is it wrong that I still like him?
