Yes that would be ideal. I was just thinking that we haven't thrown one to our fastest WR since he's been on the team.

What is really a bad look is…. Steelers get rid of qb room… following year qb room emptied again, but but… you bring back Mason who you got rid of the previous season.
    Make this make sense

If there is any truth to rumors that qb isn’t allowed to audible out of plays at line of scrimmage, doesn’t matter who our qb is.
Ben are you under 300lbs? If so please come back

I also understand what the Steelers were trying to do last year. You got 2 starters at a very cheap price. One of the qbs, Fields, you were hoping for a long term solution.
Unfortunately, that kinda blew up in their face. Do you think if they handled Fields differently, such as he played final 4 games, he would’ve came back?

Just heard that on the Fan… Russ or his entourage ruined that by leaking information stating Russ couldn’t play the way he wanted to play.
    That, was End Game

That audible rumor was a function of Canada and Pickett

For the rest of my life, no matter what happens this season, I will never spend a second regretting not getting Russell Wilson. Same for Rodgers.

Neither of those players can win anything of significance at their current washed up status. 5 years ago sure I’d be pumped.

That doesn't make any sense for Wilson if he really wanted to come back .

Also the reason Wilson wasn’t pursued hard or even at all by the Steelers

Wilson or his entourage, according to Pittsburgh media, 93.7 the fan, stated one of the aforementioned, that Russ wasn’t allowed to change plays at LOS.

The nonsensical QB situation goes well before this year. I posted about it a few years ago and really got bashed by the tomlin loving emoticon crew.

When Ben retired, they sign Trub, draft Pickett and, accidentally, draft another QB. They get rid of the accidental QB after a few months (who then won a SB), start Trub, bench Trub, start Pickett. The next season, they start Pickett, bench Pickett, start Trub, bench Trub (or some such order), start Rudolph and go on a streak to get into playoff. The next season, they empty QB room (Pickett wins a SB), sign Wilson, sign Fields. Start Fields and go 4-2, bench Fields, start Wilson, win a few and then tail spin into a playoff disaster.

After that, we get to what you describe...

Rudolph is back and there's no other QB, and we're back to exactly where we were after Ben retired. All that has been achieved since Ben retired is that Tomlin has collected a cool $10M per season.

Make any of that make sense.

May be it does make sense to the Browns org....

My problem with Russ is his limitation reading defenses and throwing over the middle of the field.

Weak arm and can't see over the line. No longer a threat to run at this point of his career. Good riddance.

Big difference is that Kevin Colbert went out and signed the #1 Free agent QB that year hours after free agency began. Then Colbert spent a 1st round pick on the #1 rated QB in that years draft. They were misses, but at least Colbert was swinging the bat trying to go deep. :)

This years QB room is the worst I have ever seen. I know Khan has his fans, but how the QB problem has been mishandled the last 2 years, Khan should be getting the boot from the GM office. Watching Khan watch the ball pass him bye on the WRs last year, and now the Free Agent QBs this year is frustrating. Get off your Ass and pick a horse!!!

What exactly did you want Khan to do? How would you have handled it?

He was handed a bad QB in Pickett in fact he inherited a bag of **** in general. None of it was his doing.

He should be commended for not wasting more time on Pickett and then went and got two QBs on the cheap which if they didnt work out it wouldnt hurt the team in anyway other than still needing to find a franchise QB. Those dont grow on trees.

People can hate on Rodgers all they want but he is in fact the best option available to lead this team. The problem isn’t Khan, its lack of options.

Now if you want to ding him on how he has handled the rest of FA, thats fair game but he may have a plan for that as well. Collecting those comps for next draft.

In some ways I agree, but also think the ridicules numbers being thrown at some unproven or over the hill QB gets a team in trouble. The 30 million guaranteed for Fields is more than I would have paid, but actually is far less than some guys get, especially as an interim guy who at least has years of starting existence. Russ on the type o deal the Giants gave is also OK, were those type offered by Omar and even remotely considered by the agents, probably not. Bringing MR back is not something good or great, it just is...which is how the QB situation has for a while. Even signing MR and bringing in Cooper Rush or another decent back up would give some stability to a vision, drafting and developing a rookie, keeping options open for 26. Right now it is MR and Skylar, hardly an excuse for any pro locker room.

I agree with you on most of this. The only thing I'd argue is that if they wanted to retain Fields - who I personally think was their best option in FA -he would still be here. I see him and Rodgers at about the same level right now - Aaron a better passer, but Fields has his legs and whatever small chance of developing. I would've bee alright giving him a guaranteed $30M for two years. And I say that as a guy that doesn't like Fields.

Next in line for me would've been Wilson, but I think the stuff that came out regarding the audibles killed that relationship. If it was Wilson's camp that did it I don't blame the team at all for moving on.

From the reports I read, the Steelers weren’t willing to commit to Fields as the starter. Which after the way they pulled him last season I dont blame him for taking the sure gig with the Jets. So not only did the Jets outbid the Steelers, they had a better pitch, you’re our guy and will build the team around you.

Now whether the Jets stand by that I dont know but Fields can only go on what he is told. Seeing as they gave him 40 million Im guessing he will definitely be the starter the entire year.

If the Steelers were sold on Fields he never would have hit free agency, they’d have made him an offer he couldnt refuse.

He's still not making starting QB money. Other than the $30M guarantee, the Jets offer is still weak. But it's the better of 2 weak offers.

Kevin Colbert would have done what he did his last year, and signed the #1 free agent QB in Sam Darnold minutes after free agency began, or at least had Justin Fileds signed before free agency even began.
