well he did injure a person and caused alot of damage. luckily they dropped most of the felonies, except two. thats what he did to expect jail time. why do you play it off like the kid did nothing wrong?

I hear ya, TomlinEra, and, I get your point about "perspective"...
It`s just kinda funny, I had actually been thinking at work, about, "I wonder what kinda sentence Ta`Amuu, got..."
Was thinking about posting a question about that, on the board, for the last couple days, and this thread happened to appear...
Anyhow, When it first happened, I looked up a couple stories on the local Pittsburgh papers, and their local tv station that had coverage on it...
Because he was accused of running from he cops, and all that(taking his shirt off, being taserd, etc.)...
And I saw a couple interviews from local residents, that lived on the street, where he ran from the cops...
I probably couldn`t dig them back up now, but they were from KDKA News, and they talked to at least two people that lived on this little narrow street(I would call it an alley, in my neighborhood), who were both, obviously pretty shaken up,
The next morning, describing how they were woken up in the middle of the night, to the sounds of him crashing into a couple parked cars, and the sounds of the sirens chasing him.
You could still see the cars, that he hit, sitting there, with damage to them, on this narrow, little road...
The one woman, described how he got out of the car, pulling off his shirt, and started running...
Again... I`m not trying to judge...
But it sounded like a pretty serious deal, and looked like one, by the look on her face, the sound of her voice, and the damage to the cars that you could still see sitting there...
I`m not convinced this situation was "overblown"..
Many are... This one, I don`t think so...
Again, I wasn`t there, so, I don`t know, but the footage I saw, didn`t look like a little "oopsie"...
Whatever, It is what it was, put it behind him, and hope he learns from it,
But I wouldn`t just shrug it off as one of those things that the media "blows out of proportion", although I agree there are way to many of those...

First off, I never said he didn't hurt anyone, I think a woman got whiplash. Second, I never said he didn't do anything wrong. Why do you like putting words in people mouths? I swear I think you like mixing it up with me :lolol: I said what he did was basically reckless driving and that he wasn't going to do a lot of time for that. I don't think there was much luck involved that the more serious charges were dropped, I think they were dropped because they didn't really happen. For example, I think one of the charges was he tried to run down a cop. Translation: a cop was flagging him down and he went around him. I doubt he had to dive out of the way to avoid being run over. At least that's what I believe and since that charge was dropped, probably right. Cops don't like when you resist arrest and they probably lit him up for everything they could write down. Do you think if he really did those things they would be dropped? He's a rookie who hasn't even made a name for himself yet. Lets not make this kid out to be some mega star who beat a rap.

Wow. Well if what I read happened is what happened, then he's lucky he won't be in jail until he's too old to play anything but golf. But I'm happy to accept that the reports were exaggerated, and what he really did was not as bad. In a world where doing drugs alone in your own house gets you years jail time, and trying to run over cops gets you probation... I don't know how to finish that sentence. It's too crazy.

I don't think celebrities should get lighter or harsher penalties for crimes, but I think there should be a way to utilize the fame and money at their control. What about instead of a $___ fine, you pay ___% of your gross salary? Because the super rich paying the fines set for normal people is absurd. It's not a punishment at all. I think the same should be done for the fines in the NFL. A $50K fine is going to really hurt some league minimum guy, and wouldn't even bare noticing for those among the highest paid. I know they do that for suspensions, but

Boy, I really hope Ta'amu gets is stuff together and works hard this year. I want to see him on the field.

Scott, made me think back to the JonBenét Ramseythingie. Cops say they want to talk and the family says, oh, we don't feel like it now, maybe tomorrow.

Cop stopped me one time here outside of LeJeune said put your hands on the trunk. I said he I don't want to scratch the paint. He whipped the dog sh*t out of my paint with me.

Yeah because EVERYONE who has a missing or dead child wouldn't want to cooperate with the police. Just for clarification, the whole "innocent til proven guilty" is actually for a "court of law". Also you hear the word "allegedly" a lot. Well you know why? Because when Richard Jewel was accused of sitting the bomb off at the 96 Olympics he was basically convicted on tv and so now they say "allegedly". Also if you knew the history of the Miranda Rights you would just shake your head for days. I mean you would drive down the road shaking your head. You would watch tv and shake your head. You would eat supper...while shaking your head. It's just a ridiculous story. But how many people can honestly say that they believe OJ is innocent or Casey Anthony is innocent? Did you EVER think they were innocent? I didn't and still don't and never will.

My dad used to sing in a Christian group and one night Leonard Little came forward for prayer while they were singing. I've always wondered what has happened to him since then. Actually didn't someone die when he hit them? Stallworth ran over a guy in FL I believe while he was drunk and he left the scene of the crime and I think he did wind up doing actual time for that. Wasn't that while he played for the Browns or did they take him after that?

no you said he didn't kill anyone, i simply said but he did injure someone. as for it being like reckless op, they don't hand out felony charges over reckless op. you act as if he did basicly nothing and that's not true. the first two felonies were dropped because his lawyer got them dropped by stating the police car was unmarked and ta'amu thought some randon person was after him after slamming 6 cars.

any time i don't agree with you or state a different side to something you seem to take offense with me. you played it off with what you said as no big deal, i simply stated it was a bigger deal then you made it out as. your not always right, sorry you think i'm attacking you somehow. i think the kid got one he** of a break for what he did.

Yeah, he agreed to a plea deal and got out early on a 30 day sentence. I remember he paid the man's family to avoid a civil suit, and I think he did a lot of community service. He was suspended from the NFL for a year, later released by the Browns, then signed by the Ravens. I was shocked the Bengals didn't pick him up...

For a tour down memory lane, here's Ta'amu's police docket before some of the original charges were dropped.

I think the actual reason the Rats wanted him was because someone died. The Bungles are soft criminals compared to the Rats.

Just as I suspected, like the judge said you shouldn't be treated any more harshly
than any other DUI offender. Now lets see what Tamu does from here on out.
    Show us some game son.

Miranda only applys when you have custody and interrigation. No police office has to read you your rights when your arrested; only when you are arrested and they are going to interview you, thats the interrigation part. I can't speak for all law enforcement but where I'm from we bust our butts and do the right thing.
