I could see Black as a late round pure NT. Big tough guy in the middle.

Savion Williams is an interesting prospect. I can see us seeing a bit of Martavis Bryant in him. Unique size and speed, while being excellent after the catch. He's got some developing to do, but he might be able to turn into a nice WR eventually.

Sampson is a Devon Achane style runner. He needs to develop his game as a receiving threat if he wants to make it in the league, but an interesting pick up in the middle rounds.

Black makes sense as a two down run defender at NT. Day 3 selection where most two down NT's go, and would be worth a look if we wanted to take a shot on someone.

Yahya Black is a 336 lb space eater in the NT position. He eats up blockers that can free up the ILB's to make the tackle.

They are permitted to talk with him. What restrictions of those discussions?! Not sure if there is anything legally binding per NCAA nor NFL rules.

As for who is Tomlin looking at specifically?! Jake Briningstool and R.J. Mickens; son of Ray Mickens who was a Third Round Pick for the New York Jets back in 1996.

Noel was a guy I was looking at in the 2nd. Guy gives me Steve Smith vibes. Of course that's all over now.

We are meeting with a ton of "back of the draft" prospects. Neither Etienne nor Mafah are top 20 prospects at the RB position and Page is a day 3 prospect at best. Outside of the top 10 projected pass rusher, we've met with no one that is a first or second round pick. A few WR targets for the 3rd round in Higgins and Williams, the rest are day 3 players. The RB's are all 3rd round or later. DL has been back of the draft type players aside from Pegues, who is likely a 3rd round target... Nothing happening with first round caliber players.

We're either hiding our intentions in the first round, or have our minds pretty well set on an answer up there. Not sure what that means or could signal to, but its an interesting thing to be taking place....

zabel and milum the two tackles are high to mid 2nd round rated tackles.

we have added in free agency to the WR room.

added a 3rd down back and brought back warren.

    added to the DL.

added to the ILB room plus have holcomb to come back.

added to the defensive backfield along with young guys.

    added to the TE room.

    added to the QB room.

the only position we have lost 3 and not added to except to bring back our BU center, is the O-Line this offseason.

Outside of Georgia, there haven't been a whole lot of top 20 teams who have had their pro days. Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, the whole Big 12 (today). Next week and a half we'll be seeing where real interest lies.

I don't have an issue with the offseason moves, I was just stating where the visits were to date. Milum is a local, therefore, should be seen regardless of interest. Steelersrock makes a good point on pro days that haven't happened holding a lot of the early round talent... but it is just interesting to see that the overwhelming majority of our visits have been day 2 and day 3 targets. That is all.

Solid point. Lots of good players haven't had their pro days yet... It will be interesting to see where our intentions lie.

yea don't we have like 3 7th's. or a 6th and two 7th's. warren wasn't a top 20 back. both these backs are pretty good. this class is pretty deep in RB's.

as for milum, yes local but also a highly rated lineman. if you don't know about him, he played LT and gave up 3 sacks as a freshman and for the next 3 years did not give up a single sack. WVU also led all power 5 teams in rushing. he played with frazier there. that is a pretty impressive college career. smart kid too. 3 time all academic big 12 student.

I know just a little about Milum. Obviously is a pretty good player with his top 50 prospect rating... Possibly a T, but maybe a G at the NFL level due to length concerns. Mauler in the run game and obviously a pretty good pass protector as well.

We did have a lot of later picks (It was three 6ths and three 7ths at one point), but not anymore. We traded most of those away and have 6 picks in the draft at the moment. We have one in each round except for the second round.

Yes, Warren was an UDFA. You can get good value later with RB's for sure, but even in this case Warren is just now viewed as a starter (and might not be one for more than a year if he doesn't produce). I believe in Jaylen as much as anyone on here, but he is certainly an exception and not the rule. Obviously if we draft one late, I prefer they turn into a Jaylen Warren, Chase Brown, or Kyren Williams and not an Anthony McFarland, Johnathan Dwyer, or Benny Snell. It's a deep class, but that doesn't mean that all these guys are going to be anything in the league. Its deep because its VERY top heavy with excellent backs. This is pushing guys that would be day 2 picks down into day 3. Its still pretty hit or miss back there.

I know no one wants to hear this, but Tuesday night Tomlin, Omar, and Tom Arth had dinner with Jalen Milroe the night before Alabama's pro day.

Seems like a Tomlin guy: Jalen Milroe NFL Draft 2025: Scouting Report for Alabama QB
    POSITIVES

    — Explosive dual-threat quarterback capable of making big-play with his running ability.

    — Dynamic arm talent to push the football vertically and outside the numbers.

    — Well-built and proportionate frame with tremendous play strength.

    — Young and developing talent with a high ceiling.

    NEGATIVES

    — Can be too eager to pull the ball down and bail out of clean pockets.

    — Consistency in trusting his eyes against defensive coverages.

    — Anticipating throwing windows, will wait for the wide receiver to complete their route breaks before throwing.

    — Feeling and sensing pressure while in the pocket.

If we had re-signed Justin Fields, this would have made perfect sense in the third or fourth. A back-up with exactly the same strengths and weaknesses of our starter.

This is very concerning. He could be in play for pick #21.

Unless we're converting him to RB it would be insane to draft Milroe in any round let alone the first.

I definitely agree where early rounds are concerned. I think there’s a point where the lottery ticket is worth the price, but for me that doesn’t start until sometime in Day 3. However, I have trouble believing that the brass took him to dinner before his pro day for a day 3 grade. His upside is there for a scheme centered around a running QB, and I’m wondering if the team thinks “we can fix him and have a star.”
