Ha ha. I hope he goes back to what works for him and leave some of these experimental pitches in pre-season. While dominating, he's a very inefficient pitcher still, averaging 20+ pitches an inning. The strike out wunderkind's dilemma. Hard for him to make it past 5 innings een when very dominant.

Beware - the Steelers were Super Bowl Champs of the pre-season 3 out of the last 4 years. And look where that got them. :hmm:

it really sucks that Jones our pitcher is having arm pain --well --there is the excuse for being losers again.

Not just arm pain, but elbow discomfort. That could be anything from a small tweak that causes him to miss a spring start out of an abundance of caution or a precursor to TJ surgery.

I get it, we suck balls but I was a little pumped about our staff. That hurts.

And those bombers of the Burgh remain only 1 game back in the meaningless league.

No. Sorry but Skenes could win 20 games and we'd still suck at the end.

Skenes could pull a Steve Carlton. One year he won almost half the games for a terrible Phillie team.

I'm hoping for a Denny McLain type year.;) 1968 he went 31-6

It's what came later for McClain that was the problem. Still pounding out license plates I believe.

Well we won't win the Grapefruit league. March 27th baseball players get to freeze their ass off in certain cities as another exciting season of Bucco baseball starts. Bright side, our guys will be nice and toasty in Florida for 7 games to start season. Home opener is against those damn Yankees.

Seems MLB has figured it out. I didn't look at entire schedule but it seems most games will be in warmer climates to start season. Still going to be cold nights in April up north.

Anxious to see Skenes pitch Thursday… he added 2 pitches to his arsenal
    Cutter and sinker
At least we get to enjoy him for a couple more years

    Me: 77-85
    born2steel: 76-86
    rollers: 74-88
    86ward: 72-90
    Quad: 75-87
    Steelpens: 82-80

We lose the desert rat after 1 game. It's early but I can see a 60-65 win season coming up.

Well if anyone is a Comcast/Xfinity customer MLB is free the first week. It is like channel 3022 was a Little surprised the MLB website doesn't have every game free opening day.

It is like $150.00 a season to watch the Bucs on MLB website or you can do it monthly for 30 "BUCS" . Cancel as soon as Bucs suck.

Since I don't have a stolen password this season, I'll watch first week free on Comcast and if they are not 2-5 I might buy a month on MLB.com

Thinking ahead, I already cancelled.

Yeah I think MLB was free for 7-10 days out of the gate last year and Bucs started off good so I too signed up for a month after that only to have the floor fall out once again when April ended.

Well at least we're starting with Miami. I think they were worse than us last year.

    Bucs

    1 DH A. McCutchen R
    2 RF B. Reynolds S
    3 CF Oneil Cruz L
    4 C Joey Bart R
    5 2B N. Gonzales R
    6 1B Jared Triolo R
    7 3B K. Hayes R
    8 LF Tommy Pham R
    9 SS I. Kiner-Falefa R
    SP Paul Skenes R

There is your 2025 first game starters for your Pittsburgh Pirates. That does not provide confidence but I can see A-hole Nutting making good money again.

As a Eagle, I knew the season is going to be sh!t when I saw the guy behind home plate with a Buc hat and a Randell Cunningham jersey.

Good thing for Skenes when it comes $$$ time the other clubs will take into account he had no batters to help him.

Skenes did decent job. Bullpen is crap. I'd say Paul added to his future money belt.

At some point he has to figure out pitching efficiency - his pitch count swells very early in each game and he can only go 5-6 innings. The double plays sure help this. Then the dreaded bullpen has to hang on, like today. Hopefully the Bucs score a lot in the 8th and 9th (fat chance) so Bednar (if he's still the closer) doesn't come in with a slim lead and screws up Skenes chance of a W.

Holderman got robbed on that 2-2 with 2 outs. Shame he gave up two weak ass hits.

    Well, Skenes lost his W.
