Mason saw first meaningful action in his career when Ben got hurt against Seattle. He actually moved Steelers better than Ben in that game. Then he had a decent play for a QB in his first year till he got knocked out. He came back too soon because Duck had a good PR gig and won couple of games and teams hadn't figured out he had a noodle arm. Mason still had better games that Pickett till the Cleveland game where he was being pressured all game. His brain was probably traumatized and was giving all sorts panic signal. Then the Myles Garrett incident happened. He started next game and probably had the worst game of his career against Cincinnati, who he had beaten earlier in the season. He was benched. He was never treated fairly afterwards having been accused of saying racist stuff.

Next, he got to play against Detroit during the Covid year on one day of preparation. He actually outplayed Goff in terrible rainy conditions. He got steelers in winning position twice, and on one of those Friermuth fumbled. His next chance was 2023 when he showed really good qb skills. In his first action with the Titans, he got them their only win against New England. When he relieved Will Levis later in the season, the season was over for the Titans and players had pretty much given up. Coaches were calling ridiculous plays, the running game was totally inconsistent and there was no right tackle. He still moved the Titans. Coaches obviously saw this as Titans wanted him back and he had an offer from the Giants. I think he has potential to be a better stop gap QB than Rodgers or Russell. He is a rhythm type QB, and when he is on, he can look as good as the best of them. Yeah, he deserves a chance because he has shown that with good talent around him, he can be as good as half the qb in the league.

LOL Where did you get that odd little conspiracy theory? What is your explanation for the rest of the league passing on him repeatedly?

Anyone who thinks Rudolph has anything more than an average NFL arm doesn't know what they are looking at. He does throw deep with accuracy and touch, but that isn't the same thing. You are absolutely right about his mid-range throws to the sideline. That is wear the weakness shows.

Wow, you twisted yourself into some serious knots with that one.

Let's start with your first claim. Yes, the offense looked better for part of the Seattle game with Rudolph than it had with Roethlisberger. What you left out was that Roethlisberger tried to play through the elbow injury that ended his season in that game.

Rudolph had an entire month to recover from that concussion. He came back when he was medically cleared. That is a lame excuse for his poor performance the rest of the season.

Yes, Rudolph fell apart under pressure against the Browns. That's part of his problem. He stands tall in the pocket, but has no feel for the rush and no ability to move within the pocket.

He was bad in that game against the Lions. That he outplayed Goff is subjective and irrelevant. He did next to nothing most of the game against a terrible opponent.

Yes, he was in a bad situation with the Titans, but what does that tell you? He simply isn't effective when the defense pressures him or challenges him. That's not good.

So your conspiracy theory is something you made up and you are going to ignore any facts you don’t like. Got it.

I mean he hit some slants to Pickens during that run that made all the difference. His footwork while working through his reads just doesn't match up though.

Just looked at Ben's combine drills and it's pretty obvious that he had the base to be successful. Not seeing that improvement from Mason that I thought we'd see.

I think you nailed a big part of the problem, his footwork, especially when there is pressure.

Boxers have to sit out 45 to 90 days after getting knocked out depending on severity of injury. Rudolph’s knockout was about as serious as it gets. If you don’t thing that didn’t have an effect on his performance, you are clueless about human psychology or just being disingenuous. The Steelers medical staff did him disservice by clearing him after 4 weeks. On top of that he was being called a racist on national tv with very lukewarm support from coach. Those things obviously affected his play against Cincinnati. He destroyed Cincinnati the next time he played them. He had also beaten them earlier in that season pretty handily.

He does need to get better with pocket awareness, but he is getting better as he moved around better than Will Levis last year. He has learned to go through his progressions quicker and is quicker with his release. Dan Marino, Tom Brady, Dan Fouts did pretty well with being statue in pocket, but all of them had great OL. Mason can do well and win you playoff games with decent OL. Steelers can get that done with his cap friendly salary.

Rudolph is a career backup, nothing more than that. He was signed to be a backup to whoever ends up being the starting QB this season.

i know that feeling. two dogs across the road, cat that walks across the bottom of my driveway, bunny in wifes flower garden, deer in yard, so much to monitor out there. last year had the baby bunny in his mouth, didn't hurt it, treated it like one of his toys and then put it down. half german shepherd, half golden. 122 LB. dog. big boy. he's in he's out. makes me crazy sometimes. my buddy. :smiley1::cool:

He was brought in as an insurance in case neither Aaron Rodgers or Wilson sign here. They already had a much cheaper back up. He does have a winning record as a starter despite being with Titans last year.

I take in strays rejects and rescues etc

So far over time I’ve had 13 dogs and 6 cats

And I’m not even a cat fan but they were all pretty cool

Most at one time was 4 dogs and 2 cats

And we would all go in the woods taking walks together

One dog can open the sliding screen door and does so and steps back

Another dog can open the patio door and does so and they all walk in

    No one closes the door

One day a ground hog walked into the kitchen and said hello to my wife

    Go Yinz Stiller’s n’ at
